I agree with most of this. I genuinely think that Bournemouth's goal was CORRECTLY disallowed, and we did indeed create the 3 best chances of the game, which everyone seems to be overlooking. Had those gone in and we won 4-0 (with nothing else changing), then nobody would be complaining. I guess the finishing still needs work.
The only thing I'd disagree about is Benteke's goal. Had Coutinho not been there, then I think any keeper worth their salt would come and collect that cross. |

I'm not convinved its top 4 or bust. I think its more about a being comepetitive and well in the race for the top 4.
Top 4 or bust to me is unrealistic when you see the top 4 sides we are competing against. It's by no means unrealistic to break into the top 4 again but season in season out not a chance regardless of who is the Manager. Quote:
That would be real mismanagment @ board level. Sanctioning player buys which a new manager may not like and then having to pay off the manager and his staff while forking out on a replacement and new staff.
FSG have made there bed now and it would have to take a disaster 3 months of the season to even contemplate change. Problem is there's no good time to replace a manager. If you wait until the end of the season you risk compromising the summer and the work the scouts have already done to identify targets. Look how early we got our business done this year. That won't happen if we're busy changing manager. I'd rather see a new manager installed during the early part of the season if things aren't going well and see what they can do with the squad at their disposal before there's any discussion about him bringing in new players. To be clear, I'm not suggesting FSG should sack Rodgers tomorrow and given how nasty our away fixture list is until December I'm also suggesting he should only really be judged on our home form between now and then. Who knows, we might improve game on game like we did in Rodgers' first season and by Xmas we might be hitting another great run of form. I'll be very happy to have my pessimism proved wrong. |

The Bournemouth disallowed goal was not only a foul but also handball. Which many people seem to have missed.
Was it offside, wasn't it offside? Well I'm telling you Benteke puts that in whether coutinho was there or not. Benteke, Milner and Coutinho all had very good chances to put us 4-0 up. How many clear cut chances did about Bournemouth create? They were lucky. They will also easily get relegated. They are toothless up front and can't defend. Working hard don't get you points. As for Rodgers. He gets the full season irrespective. None of this Xmas rubbish spouted above. Finally why can't people be happy when we win. Too many moaners these days. I dread to think what will happen when we lose. As for me being a bit of a Pratt. Well let's see what the moderators think. Up to them to decide. ![]() And if they don't you will come on here and quote your post then I hope. Surely they can defend if we can only beat them 1-0 with an offside goal? Lol, that coming from one of the most aggressive posters on here ha! Well some of us can decide for ourselves on that one ![]() Quote:
You can say it's been great, but it doesn't make it fact. 2 wins out of 2 is clearly the best we can expect but the performances have been average to poor and if we don't improve we will get found out. "Brilliant and very pleasing" is right out of the Brendan Rodgers book of post-match quotes.
I won't dismiss how important the two wins are, but it's also the least we should be expecting. We basically have to win every home game this first half of the season if we are to have any hope if getting anything out of the season. If we're on more than 18pts come the end of October I'll be surprised given how we've played so far. As for Bournemouth - think we watched different games. They held possession very well and we didn't exactly look comfortable in defense the whole time. For their first away game in the PL they acquitted themselves well I thought and if they play like that for the rest of the season I'd expect them to be safe. They won't be an easy team to beat at home.

Integrating Benteke into the team and adopting a more disciplined defensive approach are the two main reasons our performances have been jaunty. We did not get the opportunity to play with Benteke in pre-season. We've adjusted our style to play to besr use Benteke's strengths and compensate for the loss of Sterling's pace. Things will get better as the season progresses. To start off with two wins under these constraints should be celebrated. Once Firminho and Sturridge are phased in, we'll begin to look far more dynamic going forward.

sakho to be offered a new long term deal! http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport...amadou-9900793 Quote:
Liverpool have signalled their intention to keep Mamadou Sakho at Anfield by opening talks with the defender over a new long-term contract.
The France international's future has been the subject of speculation after he was overlooked by Brendan Rodgers for the Reds' opening two Premier League matches against Stoke City and Bournemouth. However, the Reds have rejected interest from both Roma and Bayer Leverkusen over the past week and have made it clear they have no intention of selling the 25-year-old centre-back. Rodgers, who has selected Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel as his first choice centre-back pairing, wants Sakho to commit his future to the club. The defender's current deal runs until 2017 and he will be offered a new five-year contract on improved terms. He's expected to wait and see how much game time he gets over the coming weeks and months before deciding whether to sign. Sakho didn't even make the bench for Monday's win over Bournemouth with veteran Kolo Toure preferred among the substitutes. |

Really hope this isn't just a ploy to up his re-sale value. For me it's a great thing if he signs, and I think the team should be built around him.
![]() I want him to stay too and hope his recent absence is just down to keeping him in check. |

Build the defence around him maybe - the team's stretching it a bit.

Good to see 3 out of last season's top four have dropped points already this season, after the goaless draw at Old Trafford.
A point at the Emirates on Monday would be good business. |

I'd rather see Lucas in for the Arsenal match, not that I see it happening.
I also find it quite bizarre that Rodgers doesn't see Sakho good enough to even make the squad but is happy to offer him a new improved contract for the longer term! |

Let's hope Liverpool are as toothless up front then on Monday night if being toothless gets you 4 goals away from home.

Bournemouth scored 4 at West Ham who scored 2 at the Emirates, so we should get at least 6 goals on Monday. As long as we don't concede 7 or more
![]() So really, it's destined to be 6-0 to us. Put your bets on now people. |

I think Can will start tomorrow and possible Lucas. I wouldn't be surprised if Firmino starts as well. 4-4-2 diamond.

I'll be really interested to see what sort of a side BR sends out tonight. I won't be surprised to see him being cautious and defensive and I probably wouldn't blame him but I'd love to see us really go for it against Arsenal. I think this early in the season a loss isn't much worse than a draw and the reward of a win and hitting a clear second in the table is worth the gamble.

I'm sort of expecting us to lose tonight so anything else will be a major bonus. Right now I'd consider West Ham the bigger game. The sort of games we must win but often for some reason don't.
If we lose to Arsenal and beat West Ham, it's 9 points from 12. That'll be a very good start and I certainly would've taken it before the season started. Maybe we'll go to three at the back tonight. Play Gomez at CB and bring in Moreno at wing back. |

The bonus (if you can call it that) is that no one expects us to win this one, Arsenal are the favourites to get it, so if anything, the pressure is more on them than us. If they do lose, Wenger will be 3 points from 3, bad for them, but, they will end up same as us on 6 points.
Of course I hope we get a good result tonight, any points will be more than welcome. I am looking forward - with some trepidation - to seeing what team and formation Rodgers puts out though. I guess it will all depend on how much confidence he has in his own selection. |
