Hello all. If anyone has time, I'd appreciate it if you could give this I wrote a read and maybe some feedback about Sturridge?
Thanks. The Curious Case of Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge |

Van Dijk would probably knock Liverpool up a level as a team as no offence but Lovren and Matip couldnt lace his boots..

Can't we just cut out the middleman and hire Southamptons scouts?
![]() EDIT: Not that I'm against signing Van Dijk, would be a quality addition to our back line! |

So, our beloved Stevie G has finally hung up his boots, and will be looking to his future for coaching within the game. He will always be an icon at Anfield no matter where he goes or what he does. Thanks for everything you gave us mate - huge respects.
nb: No way on earth can I reply to the current thread going on this, that was a planned insult in my mind. |

Putting rivalries aside, he was an excellent player, who loved your club, that much was very clear indeed. I am sorry that the thread has got somewhat off from the positive vibes that I intended and hoped would continue. |

Sorry to interject, but the thread that I started was not a planned insult on my behalf, I only started it to pay homage to a player who was a thorn in my teams side on numerous occasions, due to his undoubted abilities.

No you didn't, you openly despise the man, so please just let us discuss him in here.
I thought (perhaps it seems wrongly), that once a player retires, rival fans could come together and discuss that player without the same or similar levels of animosity. My error for thinking that way, I am sorry, I will leave you to discuss him in peace. |

nb: No way on earth can I reply to the current thread going on this, that was a planned insult in my mind. He's the best Liverpool player from my lifetime, and possibly of all time. In twenty years I'd like to think people will still consider him a one-club player like they do Carragher, or John Terry. He's provided so many memories. I think him playing with "mostly average players" is a bit of a myth, however. Or winning things with average players. He was a talisman, and could win things on his own. But he wasn't exactly a big fish in a small pond. The Houllier sides were fine, 2001 treble winning squad might not have been world class, but still had some great players. And then there's the Rafa years. Xabi, Gerrard and Mascherano was possibly the best midfield in the world at the time, and he was in front of Pepe Reina at his best, and behind Fernando Torres at his best, and helped elevate Torres (and many others) to be the best they could be. Only idiots with severe problems with bias will remember him for a slip up, or the myth about him not going to Chelsea because of death threats. The fact that fans of other clubs still sing about him and his slip up two years down the line speaks volumes about how massive of a player he is. Gerrard is not going to MK Dons. He was linked, but he has refused, citing that it is too soon. Of course, idiots on social media, who would be welcomed in the Gerrard thread on here, like to bring up the slip up, or say he's too proud or thinks MK Dons is too beneath him. When if they actually read what he said, they'd know he was saying HE doesn't think he's good enough yet for THEM. He thinks it'll be a bad appointment for MK Dons just now. I hope he comes to Liverpool and works with the youth setup. Brendan Rodgers worked with Chelsea's youth setup when Mourinho was there, and I think he's benefited somewhat from that. Imagine what he can learn from a man like Klopp, if he becomes his understudy for a few years. There are managers in the game who've worked under Klopp, and have benefitted from it. Most notably is David Wagner at Huddersfield. Huddersfield might be in the Premier League soon thanks to him. I feel more comfortable talking about Gerrard here than in that embarrassment of a thread. There will be things said that will tempt me to reply to correct people but I'll have to show restraint, and try to boycott the whole thing. Not sure how long I'll last, though! |

I just realised that I said all that and I've never mentioned the greatest comeback in a Champions League final (yes, even better than Man United's in '99).
He had some great players with him, so he didn't do it on his own, but then he did also have Djimi Traore. No game epitomised him and his greatness than that game. To be 3-0 down at half time against that great AC Milan team, then manage to pull it back and come away with the trophy. Comebacks don't get any better than that. In a Champions League final, 3-0 down, and against one of the best club sides in the world at the time. Not only do I think that was the best comeback, but the best Champions League final. Even now when I watch it, I get to half time and think "welp, we're done". ![]() It's okay that he never did get that Premier League title. He'll just get it when he's a manager.

That link brings up this: Quote:
Sorry. Which is probably appropriate, since I think every comment I've seen from you has either been pro-Man United or simply baiting, usually both. Either way, you might want to take it to the Steven Gerrard thread where your friends are.

What was your favorite goal by Gerrard, mine has to be his Middlesbrough strike https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBZzTBX17mU
But no doubt for importance it has to be "What a hit son what a hit" |

2006 FA Cup Final.
That strike was ridiculous. Can you imagine if he did not score that goal. It would have meant not winning the Champions League and no Miracle in Istanbul |

The goal against Olympiakos when we needed to win to qualify
Can you imagine if he did not score that goal. It would have meant not winning the Champions League and no Miracle in Istanbul There'll never be another one like him. I know others would say differently but for me he was our greatest ever. He was my era so I'm more familiar with him tbh but my God how he could take a game by the scruff of the neck. The FA Cup final being the obvious one. Dead on his feet, announcer telling us how long there'd be left and BAM. WOW!!!!!!. Sad day for all LFC fans. Thanks for the memories Stevie lad. |

Rather predictably, El Hadji Diouf wasn't so complimentary about Steven Gerrard retiring. I do wish that idiot would just disappear.
John Arne Riise has a great response to him: Diouf talking again 🙈Zzzzz.. Like Gerrard was afraid of looking into his eyes and talking to him😂Yeah good one dude. 50/50 tackle please |

Can't wait to have him back at the club in any capacity. One of the world's best players from 2004-2010, so many magical moments in that period with Istanbul being the obvious highlight, and then a couple of major injuries seemed to slow him down and he lost a lot of that energy and power that made him such a formidable player.
I'd echo Dandem's mention of the 2006 FA Cup final as my favourite Stevie strike. Even watching it back now, you'd normally say it's a terrible decision to shoot from there in the dying moments of a game, but he was capable of anything (even though he did say he only hit it from there because he was exhausted!). |

RAFA:
“Thanks to Steven Gerrard, we won the Champions League.” “Everything was special that day. My concern was at half time how to express what I wanted to say in English to make sure the team understood. “We needed a goal after half time and he scored it. He lifted the spirit of the team and we could react.” “I was really lucky because we got the best from Steven. He scored 104 goals for us when we were there. “He was the kind of player you do not find too often now; A good professional and a leader on the pitch. “You could see in every training session, he was someone who had to be different and always wanted to be in the game.” “He played in different positions so he was learning the understanding of the game. “Stevie was always a good example and if he ever wants to talk about how to approach things, I can give him my ideas though he also has a lot of other people around who can give him some advice. |

Retweeted John Arne Riise (@JARiiseOfficial):
Can't wait for 2017. Going to be at the Liverpool Academy while taking my coaching badges! Exciting! Learning from all the great coaches Riise and Gerrard? I like! |

Ben Woodburn on the bench!
Oh how I'd love for him to come on and score. |
