Another win and improved our GD compared to rivals. Origi looked full of beans the minute he came on tracking back. Hopefully Lallana will pick up the creative slack with Coutinho out. Milner solid as a rock. Hendo with some monster tackles. Might be some time before we score 5 and 6 in a game. I'll take the wins for now.

Yeah, looks horrible

Chelsea back to the top, 2-1 up.
City v Chelsea next weekend so let's hope for a draw and we go back top by winning at Bournemouth.

A very frustrating day, in so glad Origi found something to make the breakthrough. I expect a lot of teams to keep trying the same tactics. Here's hoping for some good luck with Coutinho's injury.

Klopp won as that game, look at him ripping into the crowd because it was so quiet, what a beast

Klopp whipping up the crowd was quite a sight. Sadly the atmosphere at most of the top clubs is lacking these days, so it's not just us. Too many sets of away fans come to Anfield and outsing us due to the Kop being down the other end and not able to drown them out for that reason.

Gutted to hear about the little magician. Fingers crossed it's not a fracture. Looked a nasty one though so I'd be surprised if it's not torn ligaments at the very least.

Lovely footwork from Origi and a great strike too. He's scored a couple like that now! He's got such quick feet which is great in 1 on 1 situations with defenders. Perhaps he'll get a run in the side now which I'd love to see.

Mane's run for the 2nd goal was exactly what we bought him for. Last season I felt like we lacked pace to really be a threat on the counter attack at times but he's played a vital part in changing that. Denayer was desperately trying to pull him back all the way but to no avail. Great composure from Milner too to seal the points from the spot.

actually he was having ago at them for grumbling over a henderson pass, which shamed the crowd into encouragement

I'll admit to making a lot of criticism of the guy later on in his tenure as our manager but congratulations to Brendan Rodgers on winning the Scottish League Cup with Celtic this afternoon.

We may have gone top and gone back to 2nd again but Spurs and Utd dropping points are good for us this weekend. I think we'll have a good assault on the title this season but Chelsea also having no European commitments is a disadvantage. Needing a replacement for Coutinho might also cause us to stumble.

Coutinhos going to be out for 5/6 weeks, and doesn't need surgery, could make his return for the Utd game.

Garth Crooks proper annoyed me a few weeks ago when he essentially said that we're over reliant on Coutinho, and that a top 4 challenge is out of the question if he picks up an injury.

Now is the time to prove that we're not a one man team, if only so that we can make Crooks look like the obnoxious tit that we all know he is.

Joe Gomez is in the U23 starting XI against Derby, so he won't be playing against Leeds tomorrow. Too soon, I guess.

At least he's playing football again.

Yep, my early evening viewing sorted - be looking at who isn't playing with a view as to who could play tomorrow.

Crooks is a bit of a div imo. he raves and raves on about Couts being the best player in the PL - OK - but to say we would be cr*p without him as well is a blatant insult to the rest of our squad.

With Lallana and Firmino buzzing and Mane creating havoc, we're not as reliant on Coutinho as we have been in recent seasons. Glad it's only six weeks though, as losing Mane for the ACON is not ideal. Coutinho has also become more consistent - used to fade in and out and left his best for the big games. His absence may be a blessing in disguise - an enforced winter break during a fairly manageable run of games means he'll be fresher for the 2nd half of the season.

We'll be fine. Origi and Firmino can play left if they need to, as can Wijnaldum, or even Milner if we had to.

We'll probably play Origi instead of Coutinho.

Well that's much better than I feared. Hopefully he's back in the team before Mane heads off to the ACON to mitigate the loss.

Getting Lallana back soon will really help too as he's actually proven to be the guy who can unlock a defence this season.

Liverpool: Mignolet; Alexander-Arnold, Lucas, Klavan, Moreno; Stewart, Wijnaldum, Can; Mane, Ejaria, Origi

Substitutes: Karius, Lovren, Clyne, Milner, Henderson, Grujic, Woodburn

8 changes from our last outing, but still looks good to me! Come on lads, you can do this - decent bench for in case.

Would like to see Woodburn get even more minutes tonight. I have high hopes for the lad.

Me too, he's something special now at just 17 - under Klopp the sky is the limit for him.

That 1st half was a little too exciting for my tastes, I feel like I'm on the world's fastest rollercoaster.
