Awesome performances from the young lads. Woodburn with a goal, TAA with an assist and Ejaria looked comfortable in the midfield, picking out some lovely passes. Origi and Wijnaldum impressed me as well.

With both Arsenal and United playing at home tomorrow it's tough to see upsets unless they put out significantly weaker teams. Think everyone who gets through will be wanting to draw Hull. Shame for Rafa that, going out on pens.

Klopp has been here awhile now I notice he doesn't say half final anymore
He's losing his German accent somewhat too.

15 games unbeaten and just the one loss so far this season. The last 2 games have been hard work but the fact we won both is really encouraging and vital for the rest of the season. Having some promising kids on the edge of the first team is excellent. I also loved Carra at half-time when the youth team was presented with a trophy they'd won and he rolled off most of their names. Just shows how integrated the club has become and how bright the future is.

Kudos to Lucas - he knew some of those victims of the air crash yet played last night. Must've been tough for him.

Liverpool are away to Southampton in the League Cup semis.

1st leg 9th of January, 2nd leg 23rd of January.

I'd be happy with another 6-1 League Cup win against them.

Other tie is Man United vs Hull City. Looks like Hull got the easier tie.

It will give their players a chance to house hunt.

Liverpool U23s coach Michael Beale set to be named Rogério Ceni's assistant manager at São Paulo by next week, according to Globo Esporte.

Could pave the way for Gerrard.

I'm guessing we all want a 0-0 in the game at the Etihad this lunchtime?

It is scoreless after 25mins.

Minimal amount of points available to either side and three for us at Bournemouth tomorrow please footballing gods.

Epic own goal from Cahill gives City the lead on half time. Bit of karma I suppose as Chelsea have got away with a couple of big decisions going for them.

Can we hope for a draw here? the longer it's 1-0 for City the better then sneak a late goal

City winning is no big deal, as long as Chelsea just don't win.

Costa equalises after De Bruyne missed an open goal earlier.

Bothe teams look dodgy in defence. Really hope we can keep it going all this season as there's definitely a chance of finishing top of the pile.

Chelsea on the counter lead 1-2.

City have wasted so many chances.

Hazard seals it on full time.
1-3 Chelsea.

Seems losing to us and Arsenal earlier this season woke them up. It'll be a hell of an achievement if we do finish above them come May. No European distractions for Chelsea either.

Aguero red card and pushing amongst the coaching staff of both clubs.

Dock them both points now FA

Fernandinho gone now for pushing Fabregas over the advertising hoardings.

Gary Neville trying to justify it as passion.

I do think it's for that very reason the league will be between the two of you

Yes still a nice chance to get some breathing space from City, a must win.

I was hoping for a draw there

Never mind, a win for us tom, and its still a point behind, but 3 ahead of City.

Well, there's a minor meltdown on Twitter at the moment because Matip is missing through injury and our bench is looking a little threadbare. A lot of pessimism flying around.

Regardless of the absence of Matip, Coutinho and Sturridge, the squad we've got should still be good enough to see off Bournemouth. No excuses if we drop points.

Poachers goal from Mane followed by a beauty from Origi.

What was their keeper doing???

0-2 up and well deserved, could really boost the goal difference from here.

Clean sheet as well please!!
