Great turn on the volley by Origi but just over the bar.

You knew it was coming.
Fierce shot spilled by Karius and our defenders are snails to react. A thoroughly bad day. |

Got to give Sakho a chance to play now surely. We can't afford to wait until the January window to get anyone else in if Matip is out for a while?

The defensive frailties have been coming for a while though. Well done Bournemouth, we've been well and truly 'Istanbulled'. Saying that, I would like to see if the technology failed when their keeper appeared to carry the ball over the line. We remain third but a heck of a lot of work to do ahead of a busy Xmas with Everton and City to be faced amongst others. |

Hopefully Matip will be back next week though. |

Terrible day at the office. Makes me wonder why Klavan was sitting on the bench. Matip has been carrying Lovren all season and it showed with him out of the side. Poor display from Karius too.
Fair play to Ryan Fraser. Came on due to a forced substitution and had the game of his life. Doubt he'll play like that again all season. |

I don't know what to think of Karius anymore tbh. I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt all season, hoping he'd show David De Gea levels of improvement. But as of right now, he doesn't look fit to be wearing the number one jersey of a club that wants to win the league.
If Mignolet came back in, I don't think I could complain. |

Clean sheets are a psychological comfort blanket. The rules dictate it is always better to win a game 4-3 than 1-0. We were still looking for goals at 1-3 and Bournemouth sparked into life. Only silver lining it was Eddie Howe and not one of the top four.

Karius isn't as solid as I'd hoped yet - and resorting to Lucas at centre half isn't something we should hace to do.
Well played Bournemouth though - a two goal lead there was never enough to ease my nerves despite our dominance. Let's shake it off next week and go again. |

We haven't lost since August so that's a little OTT mate.

It's going to be a very open title race - and we will be in it. Leaving aside the inevitable over reactions after today that is the truth.
Yes today was a blow but it maybe brings a reality check. Offensively we are great but defensively less so - even with Matip in we still concede too many but he looks the best we have and him with another good player (Van Dijk?) would be the best option. I remain unconvinced by Karius and personally I would buy Hart but it is hard to see that happening and if it does it won't be till next summer - sadly I think Klopp may prove stubborn regarding Kariius and may keep him in. Hopefully he will not cost us too many points and lets hope he does improve - I have not written him off yet - remember many did not rate De Gea at first. I do not like CFC having that 4 point gap but they are by no means unbeatable - for most of the first half last week TH were all over them but only went in 1-0 up and then CFC got their act together in the second half - so lets keep believing. Klopp hinted when he came that we could win the tilte in 3 or 4 years - most felt at the time that that was a daft claim - now I totally believe that even if it is not this season in the next 3 or 4 we should do it - as he continues to tweak the squad still further to his style of play |

Neither Chelsea, Arsenal, City or Spurs would be 3-1 up away to a team bottom half of the table with 15 minutes to go and lose 4-3. Liverpool are always prone to collapsing, the others aren't. I'm also not convinced by Karius at the moment, I felt he should have saved their second and fourth goal. He's looking very shaky at the moment which obviously wouldn't make the defence all that confident in him. At the end of the day we are still 3rd at the moment and we would have all taken that before the season started, I was hoping to challenge for a top 4 spot this year which it looks like we will make. Even with a 2 goal lead as soon as the opposition make it 2-1 you know Liverpool will probably collapse, until that is addressed we won't be title challengers. |

Yesterday was the sort of result that makes grown men ( and women ) cry
![]() We scored three great goals and really should have had the match won. I know Karius is carrying the can today and I'm not going to waste time defending him as it looks like we need a better, or less error prone, keeper. But, for me, there is also something else that went wrong yesterday. We had the game won, if fact you could argue we had the game won twice , and we let it slip through poor game management. We are a strong attacking side and our fullbacks are a big part of that; that's how we win games and i wouldn't want to change that. But at 3-1 up away from home with less than twenty minutes to go, is there not some intelligence to holding the fullbacks a bit deeper, play as a back four and let the front guys do the running into spaces? I point this out because I think the key goal yesterday was Bouremouth's second. It came at a time when it got their heads up and gave them ambitions to get something from the game, and at the same time made us a nervy shambles. The reason for that second goal was Milner attacking near their box and us losing possesssion, then getting caught on the counter with no left back. There was all the space in the world to create that goal. A tighter back four and I'm sure it wouldn't have happened and maybe a different result. I'm not coming down hard on Milner, he's one of my favourite players and someone I definitely want in the team. It's just our FB's attack so much and so far forward that the two CB's are left with alot of space to cover. That's great when you're still trying to get in front and win the game, but when you've nearly got the job done, play as a back four. As I said at the start of this ramble, it's just game management. |
