Did you see the hug he gave Daniel Sturridge at the end and the huge smile on Danny's face?
It is hard to believe there are any bad feelings there. We may lose Sturridge in January but it will not be because of Jurgen Klopp but because Danny wants more starts and more game time. I hope he stays. No doubt he is class maybe if he gets a chance to prove himself again before it's to late. |

Excellent from Sturridge to have a go and Mane with the reaction. Great win! Ironic that it was Gary Neville keeping his gob shut during post-match interview with Klopp on MNF!

I still think Sturridge is a much better player than Origi as things stand, and unless Origi manages to surpass him this season, then I don't want to see Daniel sold, either in January or in the summer. He still has a big role to play I feel.

In some ways I have a bit of a soft spot for Everton. I was born in Dublin of part Liverpool Irish part English parents. I moved from Ireland to the Wirral opposite Liverpool aged 14. Where it not for the fact that the new friends I made at school in my mid to late teens were mostly Reds, I could easily have been an Evertonian. Half my extended family are Blues and half are Reds.Losing to Man United hurts badly and they usually finish ahead of us in the table. Losing to Everton usually means they are only 10 points behind us instead of 16. ![]() I enjoy beating and hate losing to Man United far more than I do to Everton. And the mints are nice too.

Crap game but what a great way to win a derby; a big boost for team spirit that. Good timing to get Sturridge back, good timing to get another clean sheet and a nice early Christmas present for the fans.
Top performances from Hendo, Klavan and Lovren, ( I thought Lovren got carded for a brilliant foul on Lukaku, if you're going to do it, do it at the half-way line ) . We were poor in the final third tonight, Origi and Firmino both had really quiet games; I would have had Sturridge on a bit earlier, possibly even for Firmino. Sturridge back, Can back and Coutinho not far away so it'll be good to have some depth back in the squad again for the New year. Just a pity we'll miss Matip and Mane for a while, Cameroon and Senegal could both go quite deep into the ACoN. |

I've always considered Everton to be the bigger rival. I guess it depends where you're from. If you're from Liverpool, Everton will probably be the bigger rival, if you're not, it'll be Man United.
Being from Liverpool, and growing up in Liverpool, it's Everton all the way. I want to beat them more than I want to beat Man United. |

I missed that, but I see Sturridge more a super sub and back up now but yes I don't see him settling for the bench.

It is easy to say Sturridge is better than Origi but I would never do that - both are great players who are key members of our squad and the aim must surely be to keep both at the club and play them on a 'horses for courses' basis. For sure too there will be times when due to injuries, suspension or other issues (like ACON in January) when we need them both at our club. |

Matip isn't going to the AFCON, he's decided against it. Cameroon will have to cope without him.

So glad we bought Mane.
What a signing he's been so far! Going to miss him badly when he's away.I'd have to give my own personal MOTM to Klavan though. He absolutely bossed Lukaku from start to finish. Lovren was very good too although a bit sloppy on the ball considering the time Everton were giving him. Barkley was very lucky to stay on the pitch. Clearly got frustrated because he's overhyped and useless and was only playing in this game because he's Scouse. Loved Klopp's celebrations with the players after the game. Wouldn't trade him for any manager in the world.

I think Wijnaldum is improving as the season has gone on. He is wanting the ball, linking play and getting into good positions a lot more often. And while his defensive work is hit and miss, what I really like about him is that he rarely makes a bad pass. I would still say Emre Can has more capability of impacting a game, but his distribution sometimes lets him down big time.

One of the things I most like about Klopp is the way he has improved so many players - so much so that you feel as if he has most of them playing at their max - partly fitness and partly tactics I believe.. They all seem to buy into his vision that anything is possible and that they are good players who deserve to be at such a big club as LFC - which prior to him coming some seemed to doubt
Examples? - the biggest 3 which come to mind are 1) Henderson - now looking a really confident player who believes in himself wanting the ball all the time, rarely giving it away and in interviews sounding like a proper LFC captain. 2) Lovren - when he first came he was a disaster, so much so I think I may have said (as did others too) that he would never make a LFC player,. but now altho by no means error free (which central defender is?) he can be relied on most games to do his job well. 3) Lallana - many of us were excited when he came to LFC but for some reason in his first season he seemed to not be at his Southampton level. Not any more - he is now a really key player who contributes both scoring and assisting as he plays with so much confidence, energy and freedom - even better than he was at S'ton I feel.(as he has better players around him) But then as well I feel many others have upped their game too like Milner and Clyne both of whom did OK when they first came but now to me they are performing at a far higher level. Firmino was often a bit anonymous giving us 5 or 6 out of 10 performances or even not being selected when he first came but now he must be one of the first names on the team sheet so important is he to the way we play. Coutinho has always been a class act but a bit inconsistent but under Klopp he is now rated as one of the top players in the PL and maybe LFCs most important player. But that's just it - we do not rely on one player and if anyone was out we are still capable of playing brilliantly. Then you look at the players he has brought in and there is not one that you would say is rubbish and a failure (altho yes I know the jury is still out on Karius) but Mane, Matip and Wijnaldum have all settled in to the first choice team seamlessly, Grujic shows promise and Klavan is a 'does what it says on the tin' defender. And all this was achieved without paying out mega sums and often by improving the players we already had. I admit I still question the sale of Joe Allen, wonder about how Sakho is being treated and am not sure I share Jurgen's confidence that it will all work out well in the end for Karius but hey what do I know - the evidence shows that the guy knows what he is doing and whilst we can discuss his decisions I think any LFC fan saying Klopp is clearly wrong on this that or the other is on very dodgy ground. He sees them every day, knows far more about the situation than we do and so he has to be trusted to make the right decisions - and looking at the way we are playing and our league position then he has made many good ones already!! A good time to be a LFC fan and the future looks even better - deep down I think every team in the PL would like Klopp as their manager - we are very lucky and whats more he seems to love us as much as we love him. Happy days!! And a PS - Happy Christmas to all Liverpool fans on DS!!

At what point do we start to question John Achterberg? I don't think it's a coincidence that Reina, Mignolet and Karius have all regressed whilst he's been at the club. Reina is the best keeper we've had in the PL era. Mignolet looked like a wonderful keeper at Sunderland. And Karius was shortlisted for the team of the season in the Bundesliga last year. These guys didn't just magically become bad plaeyers.

Eleven different scorers in the league so far - and only one of them a true striker. Part of Klopp's recipe for success and suggests we'll cope while Mane's away. I hope we're still right up there by the time January 31st cones along and we get another crack at Chelsea at Anfield. The United game on the 15th will be a nerve shredder too as always.
Merry Xmas one and all and here's hoping for a joyous 2017 both with Liverpool and individually!
