Watching post-match coverage of the City game, and it turns out Klopp lives in Gerrard's house. Gerrard says he hasn't been there yet to see if Klopp's been looking after it.
I love that Klopp lives in Stevie's house. I also like his tendency to refer to Gerrard as "Stevie".

Another excellent lineup. Polish them off in the first half and let the youngsters practice scorpion kicks in the second

Just the one change then despite playing less than 48 hours ago. Quite surprised by that but I guess the players are full of confidence right now so it could be a good thing.

Surprised Moreno isn't getting an opportunity here. I imagine Sunderland will have no desire to really attack us, and Moreno will not only help our attacking pursuits but I'm not sure if 30 year old James Milner has the stamina to play twice in 48 hours.
In Klopp I trust though. |

Encouraging opening few minutes and then we've gone to sleep a bit. Good save from the Mig just now.

Really bad mistiming from Wijnaldum and Klavan.
Fantastic save from Mig there getting the ball away from Defoe one on one. Defence has gone to sleep. |

Can is struggling badly. People make out so it's so easy to do the role Hendo's been doing but Can's showing why it isn't, and why Klopp hardly ever uses him there.

Sunderland have turned this into a cup tie now, they know we're knackered after our efforts against City. Yes they played on Saturday to but our effort against Pep's boys would drain any team.
Ref starting to give them most 50-50 calls in our half now to, we really need a bit of composure. Could and should still win this but need to take the wind out of their sails. |

Surely we can't go from beating City, to getting beat off Sunderland.

Anyway, passing has been way too sloppy at times. Perhaps it's fatigue, but I'd hope Klopp would only put this team out if they were ready, otherwise he could have made a few changes. We're in a right game here and Mannone is playing well. Uncharacteristic from Klavan to make such a silly error in giving the pen away. With him and Milner being the only players in the 30+ category, maybe the fatigue is hurting them the most. |

It's been a fairly subpar performance from a few players out there. Can and Wijnaldum are losing the midfield battle against N'Dong and Rodwell, and Can in particular has been sloppy in giving away possession, whether it be through poor passes or getting caught on the ball. He needs to be better, otherwise Sunderland are gonna carve out more chances.
Klavan also isn't playing up to the high standard he's shown us recently. The penalty he gave away was extremely poor considering there was 3 men around the player, and since then he's looked nervous and tetchy. He needs to find his composure again, because his game is suffering. Offensively we're not looking too bad, but it's mainly Mane and Sturridge pulling the strings, I'd really like to see Lallana and Firmino come into it a bit more. |

Full marks to Sunderland for putting in 100%. Klopp needs to pull out some magic at halftime.

Moreno comes on for Milner
Honestly, I'd have given it 10 minutes to see how Can gets off before making a move. If he doesn't improve, I'd have preferred Milner to move into the middle and for Moreno to replace Can. But we'll see how he does. We have Lucas if we need to sure up that DM position. |
