That is my major gripe with us. For some reason we press high up the pitch in certain games and not in other games, we should be doing it in every game. The higher up the pitch you win the ball back, the better the chance of scoring.
Then again I dont think we can really do that as long as Skrtel and Mignolet are in defence. Mignolet is just not cut out to play as a keeper who will march to the edge of his box as the team goes forward. I am worried Rodgers is tying to be too pragmatic and abandoned his own ideas which explains why the ball is going back to front so quickly. |

Yes that is a concern. I wouldnt call us a high pressing team as game to game it seems to change.

When everyone is fit, I'm not sure what formation we are going to play. 2 up front would be ideal, but who plays in the middle then? |

Sakho should be 1st choice at the back.

Well, it wouldn't be a huge loss given his performances so far.

He's not the problem - needs others to feed off him better and we've hardly created an avalanche of chances for him.
Llori looks to be going on loan to villa. Doubt the player signed up for being sent on loan 3 years on the trot. Why sign him? |

Benteke isn't the problem. I think it's the way we're playing, something isn't right about it. Him being injured isn't a blessing or something to be pleased about.

Exactly. To write him off after 4 games is absurd.

Apparently, the loan is with an option to purchase for between 4-6 million too. If he does well, he could be on his way at the end of the season, which is a shame, because we've never really given him a chance!
For the record he is the 17th player we have loaned out this summer - what the freak is going on? |

This is something that does annoy me about our 'transfers'. We buy in new players to great fanfare extolling their amazing talents - to never see or hear of them again, until they are shipped out. I don't honestly recall Llori playing a match for us, and all I can see is that we have treated the lad like sh*t.
For the record he is the 17th player we have loaned out this summer - what the freak is going on? Agree totally, we might as well save the money and buy proven players. The amount of players that have come and gone through our doors since the days of Rafa is extraordinary. |

Has Allan been involved in your match day squads so far this season?

Transfer window over:
Lucas, stays Moreno, stays Sakho, stays Enrique, stays?? Well, it could have been a lot worse, I suppose. As I said earlier in the summer, keeping Toure around was always going to cost a squad place for either Wisdom or Ilori. As it turns out because Gomez has shone, they've both had to go somewhere else to play. I saw Ilori in the u21 game with Everton and thought that with his movement and tackling ability he'd make a good defensive midfielder...if only he could pass the ball better. I hope he gets some decent games in at Villa. |

If Ilori does leave at the end of the season, that would mean we signed him for 7m and he never played for our first team. I wonder how many times in our history we've bought a player for money and sold him without ever playing for us.
A lot of hype about the Allan signing. Won't be surprised if he never plays for us either! |

Not bad business at all. Ings could see an exta say £7 mil on the money going out but still net spend wont hit £20 mil.

Chelsea do the same thing, but tend to do it well, because they manage to sell on the players later, it's can work quite well if done right.

Chelsea have like 33 players out on loan. Its absurd and to me the rules need changing. I dont think clubs should be able to all and purposes have a 2nd squad out on loan. It is being abused and basically allows teams to buy players just so nobody else can have them as they can just send them on loan.
We have to rid ourselves of this idea of buying future talent for money balling, and seriously look at buying in players who are proven good enough for the first team. We just hit lucky with Suarez, that was an amazing one off, and very unlikely to be repeated. Time our owners and manager got into the real world of football, because if they don't we are just going to slide down the league table into obscurity. Drama queen? No, just a realist. |

More than that though imo, is that players careers are being disrupted and ruined while teams play silly moronic games with them and their futures. I understand running a club is a business, and most owners are in it to make a profit, but, a reputation as career wreckers isn't going to do us any favours when seriously looking for the best talent.

Time our owners and manager got into the real world of football, because if they don't we are just going to slide down the league table into obscurity. Drama queen? No, just a realist. The players get hurt as I cant believe a player signs a contract for a club and then for the next 2 or 3 years plays for a different club. Its madness. Liverpool paid £7 mil for Llori and I'm reading have been paid £1 mil for the loan and Villa have an option to buy for £6 mil. So Liverpool will lose no money on a player who hasnt played once for the club. It's madness. Now would you say Chelsea buy players who are proven good enough for the first team? On the surface it looks like they do but you look deeper and as I pointed out they are abusing the loan system worse than anyone and not sinking into obscurity anytime soon. |

At chelsea, the loan system was being used (successfully) as a business venture, a way to help get around FFP. Now there is not such thing, I doubt that clubs having this many out on loan will continue.
It would be better (and more transparent) if clubs could play a B team in the league that could not be promoted to the PL as in other european countries. |
