I think a 3-4-1-2 formation could be useful, with the wing-backs providing the width.
I'd line up like this: Mignolet Clyne Lovren Sakho Toure Moreno Lucas Can Firmino Ings Origi This is based on players currently available..unless I've missed any fitness news.. |

#LFC are delighted to confirm Mamadou Sakho has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the club. For more details on the Frenchman committing his future to the Reds, head here: http://bit.ly/1iCh0u7

And you guys mocked us for exactly this.
Just goes to show that every club has it's fair share of morons, purporting to be 'fans'. Rodgers does himself no favours, but I think that he gets a hard time. Liverpool are around the 5th/6th best team in the country. Without huge investment, that's where they'll stay, in my opinion. |

Yes I know it doesn't work like that but my point is Liverpool have played pretty dire football for half of last season and to be fair most of this season so far. That is not acceptable, the poor poor performances, lack of any imagination, sometimes even desire, boring ineffectual football. That's all what needs to improve. More investment has come to Liverpool than a lot of clubs but it hasn't stopped their managers getting the best out of their teams and playing some good attacking exciting football. I'd much rather lose 3-2 going for it than 1 nil not going for it. Did Liverpool go for it v yourselves - not a chance, tactics unacceptable, simply has to improve. With Norwich & Villa the next games a chance to win nicely perhaps for a change? |

But it's not just about that, it's about performances. you say we are the 5th or 6th best side yet we got trounced at home to West Ham. Are they the 4th best then?

With Norwich & Villa the next games a chance to win nicely perhaps for a change? He doesn't seem to have faith in his own beliefs. Two years ago, you were brilliant. I don't buy into the whole 'it was all down to Suarez' guff. Yes, he was fantastic, but so was the system, the pressing, the 'philosophy'. That was all down to Rodgers. Unfortunately for you, he seems to have completely bottled it, in terms of playing to your strengths. Sitting back and defending? It generally works for Chelsea, and us, but that's because we have the players to do it. You don't. I'm convinced that Benteke could be an absolute monster, in the Drogba mould*, but Rodgers seems to doubt his own ability, regardless of what he says to the press. It's understandable, because he' a young-ish guy managing one of the world's biggest clubs, but he needs to snap out of it. Someone needs to have a serious word with Rodgers, or he'll lose his job. And it would all be his own doing, which I think would be a massive shame. *Cliché alert. |

I feel like we've already been quite unfortunate with injuries this season. Losing Henderson is a blow.
Anyone know when Allen is supposed to be back? I really think Sakho is better at that, and, the squad think very highly of him too, but I doubt BR would think of that, and Milner would be pee'd off too. I'd hate for this to be an excuse for BR as to why we play badly for the next 2 months or so, but it probably will, we always play better with Hendo, even when he covered for SG he was actually better than him. |

That's a blow for us, we'll miss Hendo just as much as we miss Sturridge. Hopefully the surgery is completely successful and he returns fresh and eager, and it will give his injured left foot a complete rest for a while too.
I guess it's just as well Lucas didn't get on that plane to Turkey. |

I'd only expect a 10 minute run out if we're comfortably in front at the absolute most.

I have been away altho I did see the MUFC game on TV - depressing!! and that's all I will say!! - but not the Bordeaux game. I have had a long journey today so am a bit shattered but had read some of the recent posts - the discussion between Lone and Jim is interesting with Lone more or less saying my thoughts.
It is not the losing. it is the way we are losing and really the negative unadventurous way we are approaching most games, lets face it we have barely had a really good performance for the past 2 seasons since Suarez left. It is tempting to say it was all down to Luis that we did so well then and yes of course he was clearly the most important factor, but Jim is right too as that season we had a far more attacking mentality and many of the current team played far better than they are doing now. Remember us winning 6-0 away at NUFC at the end of the previous season without :Luis after the Ivanovic suspension, you don't do that if you are bad players. Now I am sad to say it is almost always boring to watch us, we lack spirit and are simply not playing to our max whereas clubs like Palace, Leicester, Swansea and West Ham show far more spirit and are far more entertaining to watch. They are playing to their max. We may well finish above all 4 of them but considering the money we can spend compared to them we should do shouldn't we. My position was and still is to keep BR till Christmas and see how it goes in the next 3 or 4 months but I am getting less and less optimistic that he will be able to change it round - but I hope he does as I do like the guy. I believe that we do have good enough players, we just have to set the team up to play to their max which we are simply not doing now. If the results and more importantly the performances are not better by the end of the year then we would be unwise to let it continue any longer I believe |
