Why is that Rodgers seems to have lost confidence in himself or the team in terms of the way he sends the team out to play.... I think he's a good coach and knows his stuff... Do you think he just doesn't feel his players are good enough to play in an exciting, more attacking way?

I have been away altho I did see the MUFC game on TV - depressing!! and that's all I will say!! - but not the Bordeaux game. I have had a long journey today so am a bit shattered but had read some of the recent posts - the discussion between Lone and Jim is interesting with Lone more or less saying my thoughts.
It is not the losing. it is the way we are losing and really the negative unadventurous way we are approaching most games, lets face it we have barely had a really good performance for the past 2 seasons since Suarez left. It is tempting to say it was all down to Luis that we did so well then and yes of course he was clearly the most important factor, but Jim is right too as that season we had a far more attacking mentality and many of the current team played far better than they are doing now. Remember us winning 6-0 away at NUFC at the end of the previous season without :Luis after the Ivanovic suspension, you don't do that if you are bad players. Now I am sad to say it is almost always boring to watch us, we lack spirit and are simply not playing to our max whereas clubs like Palace, Leicester, Swansea and West Ham show far more spirit and are far more entertaining to watch. They are playing to their max. We may well finish above all 4 of them but considering the money we can spend compared to them we should do shouldn't we. My position was and still is to keep BR till Christmas and see how it goes in the next 3 or 4 months but I am getting less and less optimistic that he will be able to change it round - but I hope he does as I do like the guy. I believe that we do have good enough players, we just have to set the team up to play to their max which we are simply not doing now. If the results and more importantly the performances are not better by the end of the year then we would be unwise to let it continue any longer I believe I agree with the above. It's often the manner of our defeats, I mean I was happy to take the nitty gritty somewhat lucky early 1 nil wins and the nil nil draw but we didn't play that well but to then have the losses in the manner in which they have come is very depressing. Obviously we hope things can be turned around in our favour but if not no excuses. Losing Henderson should not be too catastrophic to us in all honestly, upped his game massively for sure but he is not a Luis Suarez, he is replaceable. Excellent resent results v Norwich so lets hope that continues, glad to have coutinho back. Quote:

with players like Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino, Beteke, Ings soon to be Sturridge we should be attacking far more than we have been thats for sure. |

Why is Rodgers getting so much time? Look at Kenny's first season a cup win and final and out of the door.

Rodgers is very much "their guy". A failed tenure reflects badly on the owners judgment. |

Stupid Ultimate Fantasy Premier League...
I forgot to set up my team! Mahrez gets 11pts, would've been my captain, was on the bench. Vardy gets 8, on the bench. Bojan, in my reserves, gets 8. Coutinho's still in my reserves. I hope he gets sent off tomorrow. ![]() Only sub I can make is Caulker and I don't know if he's even going to play, but I'll chance it by replacing 1pt Costa. I'm regretting buying him. Can we start this weekend again, please? |

Excellent resent results v Norwich so lets hope that continues, glad to have coutinho back. That's the million dollar question, I can't fathom the answer. From his principles when we had SAS to now is polar opposites, yes I know we lost Suarez and then Sturridge to injury so you may say that's why but he hasn't changed his philosophy about playing it out from the back despite it being clear Mignolet, Skrtel & Lovren can't do it! with players like Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino, Beteke, Ings soon to be Sturridge we should be attacking far more than we have been thats for sure. Your second para is the key isn't it - why has he become so unambitious? - I want to see 2 up front - maybe Studge and Ben when they are both fit but I do feel sorry for Danny Ings as he deserves a chance (or more than one chance!!) for 90 minutes as a LFC striker asap (he did not even get one in the EL). Playing him wide right V MUFC was a poor selection I felt. |

Kenny was never FSG's choice imo. I feel like they were pressured into hiring him due to fan demand and a successful half-season as interim. They could get away with sacking him without seeing much blame.
Rodgers is very much "their guy". A failed tenure reflects badly on the owners judgment. All is not lost though, I remember a couple of seasons around the Luis Garcia era where we made a hash of things up until Xmas, we then sprung to life and finished 4th or something if I remember correctly. Sadly we don't have the same quality of players as we had back then. |

He's just not doing it for me. I did have Benteke but I took him out because I wanted to make transfers and I had 5 Liverpool players, since it didn't tell me off for having more than 4 when they changed him into a Liverpool player. |

Yep, the one you pay £5 to enter.
I've been doing alright this season. I thought I already made my team. Turns out I didn't. I don't remember buying Costa but don't know why I did with the way Chelsea are playing at the moment (even though they won today). He's just not doing it for me. Ah me to but didn't pay to enter though, I'm in the Digital Spy La Liga league and second at the moment, but I removed bench booster at the last minute and I'm gutted 19 points on the bench

You need to get into the Ultimate, even now, it's the best fun and really taxes your football brain. Like Munch, I skip over the other, the Ultimate is 10 times better.

Rumours all over the place that Sturridge will be in the starting XI today. Really hope this is true as today is a must win, but would rather him bought in slowly if need be.

If the medical staff say Sturridge is fit to play then play him.
People will use anything to attack Rodgers and probably hope Sturridge gets injured if he plays. |

I wouldn't risk Sturridge. Why put that much pressure on him? He should be eased back in slowly, so that he can get back to match fitness without us having to rely on him immediately for goals.

The thing is Sturridge would also have a say. If he didn't think he was ready I would like to think he would say so. It's a big plus if he is fit to start.
I think Benteke can be a great partner for Sturridge. |

What does it say for Ings if we're rushing Sturridge back so soon? I want a fit and firing all cylinders Sturridge, but being fit, and being match fit are different.
I'd start with Ings and Origi with the option to bring on Sturridge later. |
