Unacceptable performance, irrelevant of the result. Another nail in Rodgers' coffin. Bournemouth again in the next round. I fully expect them to beat us.

What a shocking set of penalties.

Messi misses pens but there is a reason for that. He aims to put pens in places keepers can't save then regardless if they go the right way.

There were 3 good pens, the rest were awful.

Now as for the team. We in a bad spot right now as we can't score more than 1 goal and without goals you can't win games.

I'm not calling for the managers head but something clearly isn't right.

If he had a shred of integrity he would resign.

I've said before in here that Liverpool is my team, but Carlisle is my 'home' team (lived there for a good many years). Tonight I am so proud of the latter, and utterly ashamed of the former - that match could not have been tighter.

Well done Carlisle.

Liverpool - sort it out please!

Baffled is the overwhelming emotion for me. Not saying we played well but I just don't know how we didn't win it in Normal Time with all those chances.

Mingolet vs Boro - 15 penalties, 1 save.

Bogdan our man of the match but not even in 120 mins of a game.

Rodgers you lucky git.

Well done Carlisle, huge team effort and great support.
I would have said that had we won convincingly in 90. Going through normal time, extra time and penalties is beyond bad. He knows, as done everyone now, that the spotlight is firmly on him going forward. I think the way tonight has just gone means he's far from lucky.

I'm truly astounded by the amount of money he's spent and we could only muster one goal, I really am.

An absolute joke of a performance 50 shots after 120 minutes and we win on pens to a league 2 Carlise.

We're in the next round, but there really isn't much credit in that result after another quite flawed performance.

Well done to Carlisle though, did what they had to do and had a good night.

that comment could have been made by a brighton fan ..we were the away team but had over 75% of the possesion in the 2nd half against wolves, 20 shots on goal, they had 10 men for 40 minutes and still we didnt score....

I think you are missing his point. It was a harmless comment basically saying they went through similar v wolves.

Thought our fans were above this kind of stuff - by all means bemoan the tactics, selection or whatever but have some class. It's not great right now but all the hysterical ranting won't turn things around. Are we suddenly degrading into the kind of "supporters" Newcastle and Villa seem to be saddled with? Tonight's team should have put Carlisle away easily but wasted a host of chances - the atmosphere some are creating isn't going to make them relax any. Brendan Rodgers can't take all the flak for decent enough players choking chances.

Thank God our decent penalty shootout record persists. Next round a chance to make a better fist of Bournemouth.

I have said consistently on BR after we decided to keep him after the summer that we wait till Christmas and then if the performances and results (especially the performances) were not good enough then he would have to go. Now I am not so sure and I am equally unsure what FSG will do.

Part of me thinks as Carra was saying at the weekend that if you give someone the amount of money BR had in the summer then you had to give him longer than 6 games (yes we know it was spending the Sterling money but he still had the choice of who to buy and brought in 7 players).

But part of me has had enough and sees almost no chance of anything changing any time soon under BR so why wait to get rid of him. I do think the players are better than they are currently showing and if a new man came in then he would freshen things up and very likely the performances would improve. I think it is relevant that so many fans are now very against him if you read social media and that makes it hard as the team will play with fear ...etc

Over to you FSG. I must admit I do want change now (like before the weekend!! - Gary Mc as caretaker) as I simply cannot stand the way we are currently playing but there is also a case for leaving things as they are a little longer.
