We're gonna need CL football as soon as we can to keep the likes of Sturridge and Coutinho.

Or we can enjoy the game and not worry about that.

Very true and I hope we score many more in the rest of the season.

As I type, Villa have their second. I'll enjoy a win but there are still major issues with our play.

Roy Hodgson better keep his owl claws off Sturridge. Internationals are coming up. Just keep Harry Kane, probably do a better job for England anyway.

After the second Villa goal, a hat-trick would be nice, Sturridge.

Hopefully we can hold on here, a hat trick from Sturridge would be welcome.

Is that the music from the great escape I can hear? Mr Rodgers does it again.

I said recently that I miss the old 3-2 victories from the good season. Okay, maybe not that much.

Sturridge set for a hat trick but Guzan makes a great save.

Well three points and a better display... the old Liverpool are back: scoring and conceding for fun.

Well done players and management on a victory and more than one goal at last.

Defence is still a huge worry.Going to have to be a lot tighter at Goodison next week.

Great result, good to see more than 1 goal, this has let Rodgers off the hook unfortunately, I still want out, he is not the man for the job.

That'll buy Rodgers another week,

A very good performance, and finally we look threatening up front again. No surprise that it's coincided with Sturridge's return, who still looks every bit the finisher the rest of the team wishes they were.

MOTM for me is Lucas. He let Hutton get the cross in for the first Villa goal, but other than that he was absolutely brilliant. Lost count of the amount of times he won the ball back. He read the game wonderfully, and his double teaming on Traore down our left hand side was vital.

Hard not to be pleased after that unless you're one of those people hoping we lose to accelerate Brendan's departure. We controlled the game and Villa created very little. Sturridge marked his return to the side with 2 cracking goals and probably would have got a hat-trick had he been at 100%. He looked exhausted towards the end. Milner had a good game too, and Coutinho bagged 2 assists; he'll be delighted to have Sturridge's movement back in the side.

Gestede is a menace in the air and took his goals well. Perhaps Sakho could have done more with the 1st goal but I'd need to see it again. The 2nd was just a fantastic cross, leap and header.

Yeah the 2nd was a great header. Not much else Sakho could do. It was more of an error not stopping the cross initially.

The first one was bad defending. Lucas should of stopped Hutton and can feel asleep marking Gestede. Hard to criticise Can too much though considering his not really a centr half so he won't have the same instincts as a natural defender.

As for the game the score line suggests a much closer game than it was. We were clearly the better side and a 100% Sturridge gets 3 or 4 goals today.

The good thing was at 3-2 the side never retreated into a shell.

I'll be honest, when Guzan pulled off that brilliant save to stop Sturridge close to the end there, I was absolutely gutted. A Sturridge hat trick would have been such an uplifting thing to see.

3 points, that's what's important. Hopefully we can follow this up with a win against Sion. We need to generate some momentum.

Glad to see we've remembered how to score goals, and I don't give a shit that we conceded given we won.
