QPR, who sold Sterling as a 15-year-old in 2010 for an initial £500,000 rising to £5m, are entitled to 20 per cent of any future transfer profit.
I think we should be making sure we clear £35 mil ourselves minimum.

That's quite a horrible fixture list, the worst I can remember for quite some time. Start away from home, finish away from home, away in London before Christmas, away to the N.E. between Christmas and New Years then away again to London for 2nd January!. Bloody hellish!
And you just know that the run of early season away games against the other top 5 teams will clash with some nightmare trips away to Eastern Europe and beyond in the EL. |

Dominic King from the Mail says we've made no bids for Kovacic and that as it stands, we've no interest in him.

Just finished my victory dance for predicting in this thread last week that Stoke away would be first up.
I wouldn't have it any other way, there'll be some still in the side from the thrashing and new signings to prove a point. As for the tough sets of fixtures, bring them on!!@ |

Hendo turns 25 today. He got a cake from FIFA according to his FB page. There's a campaign to get him on the FIFA 16 cover with Messi. Would love it if he won. I doubt it, though. If it's anyone from this league it'll be Hazard.

Manchester City have failed with a renewed bid for Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling despite increasing their offer by £10m. Good to see the club staying strong.
The Merseysiders flatly refused £25m plus £5m-worth of add-ons last week and, despite a considerable improvement, they are still not inclined to sell for anything below their valuation of at least £50m. |

Should work in our favour.Easily said than done but if we can pick up wins in the first 3 group games, then qualification for the knockout rounds could be all but assured. |

Just read on the echo site that five of our PL fixtures following EL games are at Anfield. With the other being the derby at Goodison.

I'm all for giving the EL maximum effort as I believe it's a winnable competition, it'd be great to add it to our European history and , of course, now the winner gets a CL place. It's not easy to win, but it's doable. The PL schedule hasn't helped us, but I agree with misawa, the EL ( as well as the LC) are going to be great opportunities for our squad players to show-off and prove themselves. I'll wait till after the draw and fixtures before I get my hopes any higher. |

not sure if Man City will go as high as £50m though. If they dont then sterling stays simple as. no way will there be another club who will spend anywhere near that kind of money for raheem. |

FSG have show in the past and now again they are no mugs and wont let any player dictate when he can leave the club.

Then Sterling stays, simple as... what? We have a player that we all know doesn't want to be here and will only force a move next season because the club will want a fee and won't let his contract expire. The interest in him may well wane between now and next summer so we're left with a small fee anyway.

Have to agree. I think with the add-ons £40M is good business. We won't see any potential realised here. If the club really are sure they can hold out for more, then good luck on that but I'd stick rather than twist and bust.
The club don't lose either way. They ever get the huge fee they want or a quality player stays for a minimum of 1 more year maybe two and his on cheap wages.Remember QPR get 20% so I can see why the club are thinking they want £40 mil themselves before QPR get their cut. City will come back again. You don't up a bid by £10 mil in a week and claim it's a final offer. They want the player bad and have the funds to get him if Liverpool want £50 mil. I'm expecting a transfer request asap so sterling will lose his loyalty bonus but not sure that will change anything as it looks like the owners are not budging. |

The club get a fee regardless. Even if he was here until his contract ran out it would go to tribunal and the status of the player would probably see a minimum of £10 mil.

Realistically thats not happening though, lets be honest. That only works if you are sure that if City don't come back in Sterling will simply say "oh well not to worry" and happily knock his pan out for two years on £35k a week. I know why in theory that should happen but I think everyone know it really won't . Quote:

Its not Man City's job to over inflate his price because of the deal you struck with QPR. That 20% is Liverpools problem.Quote:

You are still gambling. Look at the gamble. City have £40m that they can use to bid on any player that they fancy. Liverpool only have City bidding £40m for the player. City are in a better position than Liverpool if they decide not to up the bid. It might very well work but its a dangerous game to play. I would expect a deal to be done but not for much more. Its already an overly expensive deal for City as it stands.

£10m minus QPRs cut is a hell of a lot less than £40m minus QPRs cut

It's clear to see his the one they want. The difference between the two bids made are huge. If anything city have maybe blinked too early and the club believe the desire to get him is so high that they will pay more. Didn't Southampton with Lallana basically sell once we paid what was owed to Bournemouth. We are not looking to sell the player so if he stays because city won't pay more I don't think it's an issue for the club as they are not actively looking to sell sterling. |

Rightly or wrongly he will be seeing move to City snatched away and his potential wage of £180k a week or whatever has been quoted. I think you will have a massively unhappy player on your hands. I appreciate the mentality of saying "**** him" and expect him to knuckle down regardless, but as I say that rarely happens. Thats why it is an issue for the club. |

Suarez had the right attitude and mentality to make that work. I don't think Sterling has that. An unhappy Sterling won't benefit us at all.
