Yeah sack the manager and everything will be alright.
No sack a manager who says "Judge me after three years" and then comes out after spending 300m and winning nothing for the team four years later and says "We need to rebuild".

If we have have to start again it should not be a self mentoring novice.

I'am so happy and relieved, he's finally gone. Now we can begin again with a fresh approach and start attracting the correct players.

Not sure I agree with the timing but he's had over 3 years and he hasn't done well enough.

Only just heard the news... can't say I'm surprised! So the reports before the match that said if we didn't win today then they would pull the trigger turned out to be true!

And here were some people saying they wouldn't be removing him until Christmas at the earliest.

I agree with the theory that they're hoping to get in there before Chelsea inevitably relieve their own manager of his duties. Klopp will do just nicely for me.

I'm guessing the majority of Liverpool's 1st team squad will be on International duty so their may not be a lot of time for the new manager to get familiar with his players

Have the rest of the management team gone as well ?

That requires a change in the recruitment policy. It's not all down to whoever the manager is in what players come in. The club has the responsibility on making it happen.

I'll admit I'm surprised as I didn't think Rodgers was that close to the cliff and clearly the decision was made before today. I question keeping Rodgers in the summer, spending significant amounts on players and changing the coaching staff. Why do that?

Brendan thanks for the job. Ultimately it wasn't good enough but you gave me a season which was the best I've had as a fan. A total rollocoster of a ride which made me believe again.

FSG let's see how ambitious you are with the next appointment?

Didn't think this would happen so soon after the Derby finished! I do agree that they sacked him so they can get their first choice before Chelsea start looking.

Well the new manager will be stuck with a load of signings he does not want which is why it makes no sense Rodgers was allowed to spend in the summer .

It is not right to use the word happy for how I feel as I do think BR did some good at our club and definitely developed a love of it - which I hope he will retain - and so it is sad for him to be sacked, but you can't help feeling that for the long term good of the club it had to be done.

As I have banged on about for a while over the past season and a bit we have had hardly any good displays and have had some really awful ones. With the changes in the summer I had hoped that things would change but it has mostly been more of the same - altho funnily enough I would say that today did look a little bit better, but the overall trend was downward and had to be arrested. Almost all the signings made were either not good enough or not performing at the levels they can - I hope the new manager will start afresh with them all and see what they can do before even thinking of writing them off as I think many are good players who just need utilising correctly. Clubs with nowhere near our resources like Palace, Leicester, West Ham, Swansea, Watford ...etc are playing far better than us which is painful to see as their players seem up for it which maybe suggests BR was unable to motivate ours recently. I could go on with the doom and gloom but will stop as I think we all know the issues.

I heard Carra say that the owners do not have a good record in making good decisions for the sake of LFC over the past 2 years and I agree with that so lets hope they get it right now cos if they don't then goodness knows where we will end up.

I want Klopp to be our manager I must admit. He is available, his teams play in an exciting way, he is used to upstaging teams with more resources, he has a good relationship with their fanatical fans and I am sure would soon have the same with our fans and is experienced enough to attract top players to the club. But if I am honest many of the names linked look good to me too - Anchelotti, and De Boer especially so we will take whoever comes and give them our 100% support.

At least I think this action will lift the sense of depression and almost acceptance of mediocrity which we have around the club at present. LFC should never accept mediocrity.

Hmm, this is hard for me. In a way, I feel this is best for the club, and I've been unhappy with Rodgers this season.

However, he did give us an amazing season, and you could see for a couple of seasons what he was trying to do. Unfortunately, it's just all unravelled.

Hopefully the next manager gets the same backing Brendan did, and can move us forwards.

Can't help thinking that in the end the players got rid of him the same way the Chelsea squad got rid of AVB by refusing to perform.

Not sure about that. AVB has all sorts of stories being leaked from the dressing room and total player unrest. We never saw that and I don't think the players can be accused of downing tools at all.

I fear another cheap appointment of an unproven manager with potential.

I hope not.

We need an experienced winner.

Ancellotti for me but Klopp will do nicely.

I would hope that a deal with either Klopp or Ancelotti is already in place. If we don't get one of those 2, then there wasn't much point sacking Rodgers.

True. But considering this 'transfer committee' was imposed by FSG upon their arrival. I'd think they now realize it's not worked after three years, so may either be less restrictive with its implementation or toss it aside altogether now.

The summer may have simply been about extending some goodwill to Rodgers and/or not having anyone desirable to replace him with.

According to the Liverpool Echo the descision to sack Rodgers was made before today's game and not even a victory would have saved him.

No doubt. These decisions are not made on the back of one result. Once you believe a change is needed it's ridiculous to think a win somehow prevents that.

They obviously looked at the international break being an ideal time to make the change.

Is anyone starting to think he was a goner even if we won? they are working fast for a big replacement so soon like it was planned.

I am not surprised that they choose the international break to change, It doesn't give the new manager much time with the squad but is the only reasonable time to get them in with us having Europa League games etc in between league games.

I have to admit I didn't see this coming quite so soon, but with poor results and average performances pilling up, it's also not the greatest shock of the season. I've been saying since the summer that one of BR's musts this season was substantially improve the form at Anfield, and that certainly hasn't happened.

It would have been a risk to wait till Christmas when our season could have been effectively over. It'll also be a risk bringing in someone completely new to the PL like Klopp, but I guess hero definitely be the favourite. I wonder how much he ( or any new man ) will get during January.... wouldn't it be great if Klopp could persuade Hummel's to join him
