EE - I enjoyed the fake dad plot because it wasn't dragged out

It was a good storyline. I loved that Sharon knew all along he wasn't her had, and the one-up-manship between her and Phil. I could so easily have seen this storyline dragging on, and I'm glad it didn't, because it would have got boring.

There are so many other storylines on soap that people hate, but they would actually enjoy if the soaps didn't drag them out so much.

Agreed. Too many of these storylines rely on the characters being artificially stupid. Nice to see Sharon not being forced into that trap.

Yeah it was a good sub-plot for the week episodes, he line at the end about twisted lot was funny.

It wasn't really a storyline though, more a plot device but I agree with you that it was good it was dealt with quickly.

I think I'm one of the few but I actually really enjoy long storylines that last months, or look like they could potentially last years (like the Bobby one).

Totally agree with the not drawing it out sentiments on here!

The 'Who killed Lucy Beale?' storyline last year was soooo boring (and the denouement so fatuous), I'm surprised viewers weren't leaving in droves (we nearly did!).

And as for the Dot trial storyline, well I'm speechless at the writers' ineptitude here! Nothing about it so far has rung a tiny tinkle of truth. Trouble is, so many of the characters interwoven in that story are watching their own backs, the truth never seems to come out properly.

Short sharp plotlines are definitely the way to maintain our interest in future.

Good point. I concur.

Imagine if it had been a Carter storyline , it would have been on for six months before the truth was discovered .

For all we know we could still be in the middle of one.

To be honest it's not just Carter storylines that drag on and on. Pretty much every Kat and Alfie storyline went through these really long stretches, although it did get better around April/May with the convent stuff.

I disagree. Only the Carter storylines have dragged. The Kat and Alfie storylines didn't drag, they would appear and then disappear for days and weeks on end.

I really enjoyed the 'fake dad' story and loved the way Sharon played it. The actor playing Gordon was excellent.

I liked the fake dad story, too, and that's b/c it wasn't dragged out. If it had lasted for a month I would have been bored.

Not every story has enough beats to it to last months on end; some are just supposed to last a week. I'm glad EE realised this.

It's just part of Sharon's 'I'm going to leave you' s/l that's been going on for a year or more.

Loved his parting shot. "You lot are twisted!"

It was much better than Corrie's attempt at the fake relative thing. They dragged that story line out for months and months and the reveal was nothing to write home about.

I've enjoyed Sharon's story line.
