Les Coker's voice
I wonder if actor Roger Sloman really talks like that, putting emphasis on the wrong words?

I've never met him but all i can say is that he has spoken like that in every part I've seen him in for the past 35 years or so. Bird of Prey in 1982 and Bergerac in 1990 (ish) would be prime examples. So either he does talk like that or he has adopted it as his distinctive acting style.

Thanks KitKat. that answers my question. I have never seen him in anything else. Quite a strange way of speaking none the less.

He sounded the same when he was in Goodnight Sweetheart, as Gary's dad.

I am quite fond of his style, although I have only seen him play baddies before lol in comedies I think? Was he in Bottom or the Young Ones? Also did he play the inland revenue man in that Red Dwarf ep? I will have to google it lol!

Haven't the faintest idea what you mean with this posting, it doesn't seem to make much sense! I get the first part but the second is a mystery

He had that voice in his Vicar of Dibley guest appearance, also he doesn't appear to have aged much since then (I think it was 1998)

I'm actually very fond of his voice! Probably because I had an Enid Blyton story tape when I was little (which I loved) and he played Inspector Goon! I can still hear him say, "I'm no fool, oh no no no."

I like his voice. The actor that plays him is such a good actor in general that his voice in a way adds further gravitas to his good acting imo. I kinda think in a weird way that his voice is kinda cool too!

I've started watching EE again recently and I have to say his voice makes me want to skip all the scenes he's in, it's irritating as hell. Les' voice reminds me of those automated telephone services that read out text messages, as someone else said, emphasising the wrong words and generally delivering lines a very robotic sounding way.

Good God, he's easily one of the worst actors I've seen in anything ever. He's excruciating to look at and to listen to.

I hope he is killed off soon. Make him die of age or something? He is not a good actor. He and laila moorse are the worse actors in the cast.

He was the landlord in Bottom. That's where I automatically knew his voice from.
