I cannot wait for more of Claudette's family to arrive, hopefully they will spice things up a bit until Kathy returns. The continuous merry-go-round of sexual affairs, and the Sharon/Phil nonsense is making me impatient for something a bit more original. I liked how they handled the arrival of Paul Coker and the fact they didn't have him on the show for 2/3 episodes then disappear for two months, but we need an injection of freshness in the show, I think this may happen with the imminent departure of Max.

how do you know he wont disappear for two months? he has only been in afew episodes so far!

I don't find vincents and claudettes relationship convincing as mother and son, maybe she will have more chemistry with her foster kids.

According to BBC cast list Paul is in 9/10 of the first 10 episode's since his arrival. And I think Vincent and Claudette's relationship will evolve and I think they will both impress

I just think the whole thing is an absolute joke. The actress was playing another character until only relatively recently and it's jarring every time I see her on screen as if that previous character hadn't existed.

To be fair her previous character wasn't exactly memorable or a big character in any way, I wouldn't have even noticed it was the same actress had I not come on here.

I don't think Donna, Vincent and Claudette gel well together at all, it all feels too forced to me.

Grace was only a minor character who appeared in small scenes to support storylines with her granddaughter Mercy and very occasionally neighbour Dot Cotton. Her appearances were sporadic and rare and she last appeared four years ago. So I have no problem with this casting. If Ellen Thomas had played a main character rather than a minor one then it would be more of an issue for me. I don't like Claudette though.

So very, very true. I've completely forgotten about Mercy and whatever life they wrote for her. The actress who plays Claudette is so familiar to me because I used to watch Teachers religiously and she was excellent there so I feel I definitely would've remembered her as Grace, but for some reason I don't. Claudette is a bit desperate, I think. I'd like to see the actress tone her down a bit. She tries to do sexy but it doesn't work.

I agree. And I'm very worried about the "great way to introduce new characters" statement that we heard in relation to Claudette's foster kids. She seems like a plot device and poorly designed character. Lumping Vincent, Donna and Claudette together as a family and merging them with the Foxes is very lazy and unconvincing.

I have to agree. Claudette is a plot device character.

I hope she breaks out and becomes a character in her own roght but i dont mind the idea of bringind in her current and former foster kids coming in as lonf as she herself becomes a characrer in her own right.

I'm excited to learn more about her relationship with les...how long has it been going on? How did it start? Who else knows?

I think she's more than a plot device, this family has clearly been carefully planned out, they've slowly been introduced over the last 12 months, and I think, with them being connected to so many characters and story strands, there's still big things to come for them.

I really hope so anyway, the potential is there.

I think on here folks are cautious about new people initially but when Claudette moves to the square and more and more of her family appear I think people will end up liking her because this is DTC's idea to have a matriarch of Peggy's standing and I can't see her being hated if that's his aim. And we may well see his father if alive!
