Amanda is her second cousin. Jades mum is her first cousin. Amanda has lived in the UK and America for years
Also it is not at all unusual not to mix with ones' second cousin. Moreover Amanda is at least 18yrs older than Jade.
Amanda was very apprecative of Jade wanting to emulate her.

I find this interesting because on the Irish side of my family second cousins know each other's knicker size (and all the dirty washing
). There are all those family events, particularly the weddings and funerals, when everyone gathers. I've been thinking about all the Irish relatives I 'know'. even if I only see them every two years or so, including people who probably are a cousin's second cousin or something, but still Aunt Maggie to me.
I wonder why they haven't seen each other since babies.

Not all Irish families are "one size fits all" Marg.
Amanda has lived and worked abroad for years. I see nothing at all peculiar or read nothing into her not having seen Jade since she was a baby.

Fair enough, obviously I know my extended family, and the only other Irish 'clan' I know is that of a neighbour, and their family is just like my lot when it comes to gatherings and gossip.

It's not the discreet service I'm judging, it's the throw yourself and hope I get rich I dislike. Well she finally got that, and I wouldn't have a problem with Helen, if she wasn't such a nasty piece of work to a lot of decent people that I knew.
You can call her every nice thing in the world, but at the end of it all, when she had nothing, she was a total bitchbag, especially to people who wouldn't pander to her. How she was in the house, the massive bitch, is how she is to most people who are not paying her, be it with sex or beauty treatments business.
