Hi all, Recently got the new FreeTime box, but there are still loads of programmes recorded on the older Humax Foxsat HDR we have. Is there any way to just move these onto the FreeTime? I transferred all the programmes onto an ext3-formatted USB hard drive (which took ages!) and now that we've set up the Freetime there doesn't seem to be a file manager (Opt+ in the media on the old Foxsat) so that I can copy all the recordings onto the new box? Any ideas? B

The freetime boxes use NTFS (not sure if they also support EXT3). You won't be able to watch HD recordings as they are encrypted by a Foxsat-hdr so will only play back on the Foxsat that recorded the content. Assuming you didn't have the Custom Firmware and Nowsters patch installed. If the drive is recognised a USB message will come up. Video/Photo/Music/Copy To HDD.

After it times out access the usb device Home - Humax - OK

If you don't get this copy the SD .ts files to a PC and format the drive NTFS and copy back the .ts files.

Delete all the HD recordings, and for the SD recordings delete all but the .ts files. These should play back either direct from the drive or you can upload them to the internal hard disk.

Oh bollocks, all this time they were on ext3! Okay, well that's easily enough done. I did get the message, but it did nothing... right...

PS. Is it normal that this forum strips out all carriage returns?

It did nothing because the sidecar files .hmt and .nts with the same name as the recording .ts confuse the box.

Delete a couple of SD recordings sidecar files leaving only the .ts,

Now try again, the box should now see just these recordings and play them back using the Video option.

Not sure what you mean about carriage returns, they are fine in Internet Explorer.

And they are fine now for me too, yesterday they were all being stripped. Hey ho, technology, eh? Well, I reformatted the usb drive as ntfs and cam now restarting the long process of copying everything over. Don't suppose Freetime supports USB3 now? (Not that it really makes a difference since I don't have a spare USB external hard drive). B

The port on the box is usb2 but will work fine with usb3 devices. If you had a usb 3 drive the process of copying the .ts files back would be a lot quicker. As the box recognised the EXT3 drive all you had to do was delete the unwanted files.

Had you mentioned the fact that the drive was actually recognised (I haven't tried an EXT3 drive on my HDR1000S), then it would have saved you some time.

And of course, they were stripped in that reply too... oh well. It seems dd-wrt hasn't implemented wps yet for the Archer C5. Have to check... B

Okay, nearly finished copying onto the Freetime and it's a shame Humax make it so difficult to find the files - they aren't in with the other recordings. It's going to take a while to get used to this new box, but already it's better able to handle HD than the old one. B

The recordings made on the box are in a LUKS encrypted partition. Files uploaded by yourself are on a normal Linux partition.
