Hangovers?
Normally when I have a full bottle of red wine 70cl (13% proof) after a takeaway on a a Saturday. I'm fine the next morning, often really relaxed.
But the last 2 times I've had a hangover on Sunday morning. It's been the same brand of wine and I've always had the same amount of water or soft drinks during the day before drinking. I've had no other alcoholic drinks on that day. Why is this? |

No point tryin to work out why. A hangover is normal. Best way is to try and reduce it as much as possible. Vitamins and water before bed and plenty of rest.

Sorry to say this but it's a case of getting old. I'm 28 now, so not "old" but I can't put away the same amount of booze as I used to. I've had real bad hangovers after 2 bottles of wine which were drunk over several hours and with a meal. Ive always had bad hangovers it just seems like less alcohol now gets me too that bad hangover stage

Sometimes this just happens. I had to stop drinking 'ale' for a couple of years, as every time I had a two pints, I would wake up feeling like I had had a very heavy session.
Likewise, a single glass of red gives Mrs #1 the hangover from hell, but she can drink G&T all night without issue |

I'm fine on everything except whisky. Had 2 bottles of wine the other night and was great the next day but one whisky at the end of the night tends to make me feel like crap the next day.

It may be the same brand, but is it the same vintage? They may've started adding more sulphites or tannins which many people find give them a worse hangover. Or, indeed, you may just be getting old

Yep the joy of getting older
try taking a Dioralyte sachet on the night, and if you still wake up rough, another one in the morning |

I got home from overseas last night at 2am after 8 hours traveling and a few hours in the airport.
I had two glasses of chilled PG and a quick snifter of my duty free scotch as I watched a recorded programme (I can never just go straight to bed when I get back off a holiday). I was up at 7.45 feeling fine. I just don't get hungover. |

I struggle with beer and lager. I'm 28 and I go out a couple of times a week. I can knock back vodka like there's no tomorrow, as well as wine, whisky, shots, I can mix drinks. I'll have no hangover. When it comes to beer and lager though I just can't drink it anymore. I've had this problem for about two years now. Last Xmas Eve I went and met a friend for drinks. We probably had about 6 or 7 pints each and there was no mixing drinks or anything. The next day was hell...couldn't even touch my Xmas dinner and was in bed the entire day. It annoys me as I enjoy drinking beer/lager. I think the problem though is that it sort of sits on your stomach and I feel like it dehydrates you. Much prefer spirits.

I wont get a hangover if I stuff a pizza down me before I go to sleep (even if I'm not hungry), and getting a solid uninterrupted 8 hours. Anything less than this and I get a killer hangover. If I get sleep and food, no hangover at all. This is with a very similar level of consumption to you. I don't drink that much, about 10 units in one go, once or twice a week. |

Drink a pint of water before you go to bed if you can remember. It makes the world of difference. Even sipping on water throughout the night.

Luckily, that's another problem I don't suffer with - the urge to pee during the night. |

Whatever your age, always make at least the last pint non-alcoholic.
The more you've drunk, the more non-alcoholic drink you need to finish with. After two bottles of wine, you'll need at least two pints of water/Ribena/tea/whatever. And then you need to stay up for a while to let it go down. Otherwise you'll keep waking up all night with mouths of phlegm affecting your breathing. Or worse still, you' need to keep sitting upright because you feel the contents of your stomach is about to leak into your mouth! All these effects on your sleep also leave you with a hangover, and sometimes you don't remember all these interruptions in the morning. Also, stop drinking when you get even slightly tired. The effects of what you've already drunk will continue for some time, but drinking tired isn't very enjoyable way to waste money and you end up not being able to tell where being drunk stops and being tired begins. This makes you feel you're not as drunk as you really are, so you can end up even more dehydrated and out-of-pocket. |

Maybe you should state that you don't want anyone else commenting?
A) Not the original poster B) Nor the last poster who contributed But I apologise if you have difficulty collating and understanding basic communication skills. |

I go to bed for a good sleep not for a sprint to the loo every hour!
Luckily, that's another problem I don't suffer with - the urge to pee during the night. Given that you don't get hangovers why would you repsond to a suggestion as to how to reduce possibility of getting one. I realise it is a discussion board but all your post has done has been to increase your post count and let us all know that you do not have to get up to pee at night. How that is relevent to the title I do not know. |

Berocca before bedtime and again in the morning.
I never got hangovers before I was 30, therafter it was a slippery slope, but Berocca does the trick. |

Oh Paulieboy, you're back under another name. Next time you get banned and re register try a username without Paul in it and lose the alcoholic persona, you're just too easy to figure out.
