Free European football, new Sport channel, UHD box coming out...
http://sport.bt.com/sport-football/n...11363984692816
Lots to talk about here. All the UEFA Champions/Europa League action will be free for every BT TV customer. A new channel, BT Sport Europe, will show the lions share, and BT are promising that matches involving British sides will air on FTA for non-customers. Gary Lineker has been signed to present the European games, pretty impressive and handy that his BBC deal isn't an exclusive one. BT look likely to be the first to market with their UHD (4K) set top box in August, a very exciting development. Although I don't have a UHD television and am not planning to upgrade any time soon, I am definitely considering one in the future thanks to BT's UHD plans. |

Great news for sports heads BUT BT TV now has build on the other 60% of customers that would like other types of channels for example Sky movies HD, Watch HD, Alibi HD, Dave HD, EDEN HD Film 4 HD, Disney HD Universal HD, Sky One HD , Sky Living HD and others. ..
BT TV Should remember what happened to Ondigital / ITV digital that went sports mad ..... Plus BT needs to step up on the network speeds and repairs to make sure that customers that are going to spend more on new boxes and TV services are not giving up after few months because of blocking freezing image on screen. |

I keep looking at Virgin and thinking I'll be one of their customers within the next 12 months... maybe even by Christmas.. It's the HD Entertainment content I just don't get on BT, which is what I'm missing.. M |

BT TV has now added a sports channel and rename channels too....
409 BT Sports EUROPE. 411 BT Sport ESPN 431 BT Sport EUROPE HD 433 BT Sport ESPN HD With these changes along with the two sky sports and Eurosports SD & HD and in the Autumn a 4xHD channel I feel that BT has done enough for the sports heads. The rest of the customers need their own fix of new channels that would make BT TV platform a good choice from $ky & Virgin platforms in the UK market. So the list i have already posted should be a goal for BT from now on, but going by past history we will have to wait a year for next number of Channels to come along |

I would also like more HD versions of the channels that BT already offer. Also although I do like and watch football I dont watch every game that's on as some games don't seem to interest me. BT also need to get more big sports for the people that may only watch football say one or twice a month. I look forward to the autumn to see what the new look BT sport will be like. I never tane the Sky Sports add on with BT TV. I do now and again watch the HD versions of the Eurosport channels. Darren |

I have BT infinity, I currently watch BT sport for free on my Sky box, I'm thinking of ditching Sky in the near future, I'm considering BT tv, from what I can gather I wouldn't even have to pay the additional £5 a month if I did this but would be legible to have it for free, can I record BT sport on a BT TV box just like I can on my Sky box? It's not just streamed via the infinity broadband is it? I find the various BT packages & options quite confusing, is there a difference between what I'm considering & a youview box for instance? Thanks in advance!

As I understood it and called BT who confirmed it - if you get BT Sport via BT-TV then they will not be an extra change. The charge is only for BT Broadband customers who do not take BT TV too. Or for BT-TV/Broadband customers who want to view on a Sky box. All BT TV channels are fully recordable - and the Extra stream channels you get on RED button on Sky for BT Sport are also fully recordable on BT TV. Quote:

Thanks for that, another question do you get BTtv via aerial or Internet? I get free view HD on my smart TV fine so it shouldn't be a problem via aerial just concerned that it needs to be connected to your router via Ethernet because that would be a problem for me as my television is in a different room. Cheers!

No, that doesn't work, does it?
Just Google, "BT to offer Netflix Ultra HD on Youview" and click on the mobile link. |

The broadcaster will launch BT Sport Ultra HD on 2 August which will feature selected Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Aviva Premiership rugby games. It will be accessed via a dedicated Ultra HD Youview set top box, manufactured by Humax, which is currently being trialled in certain BT homes. Pricing of the 1TB box which can record 250 hours of HD programming, along with subscription costs for the channel, will be unveiled within the next few weeks. The Ultra HD box will also support Netflix’s Ultra HD streaming service, which is currently only available via a range of connected TVs. The £8.99 per month VoD service currently requires an internet connection of 25 megabits per second. BT will further bolster its high definition offering with the launch of Sky Sports 1 and 2 HD. It currently offers its subscribers the sports channels in standard definition but is keen to expand the offering to enable its Ultra HD subscribers to view as much high definition programming as possible. Red button coverage As a key part of its European football coverage BT Sport is to offer access to eight live Champions League games and 24 Europa League games simultaneously via its connected red button. Along with full match coverage the red button service will enable subscribers to view an array of statistics and scores from other games. They will also be able to use a companion app on a tablet or mobile device to view video highlights, replays and access different camera angles or watch a different game at the same time. |

BT has now changed to bring a price to all the sport on BT TV as you now are told to re contract to 18 months and pay £5 to have BT Sports EUROPE. ..which is not coded at this time.
So 1st August is no good for customers to bt as we none sports head are being urged to take a 18 months contract so BT can tie up customers while they prices change and free sports goes out the windows ..shame |

Just renewed for 18 months. A long contract, yes, but I have been delighted with BT TV since I first got it a year ago and I'd rather have the full Sports pack with the relatively little I watch on it for free than be paying an extra £5 a month.
It's a fairly good time for renewal for me as my line rental saver is also up shortly and want to pay for another year again. Also I want to get the Entertainment Max package as it works out only a little more expensive than the package I'm on now, and it is good value considering I will get Kids channels and full use of the BT Everywhere app from it. |

UPDATE: Ordered the Entertainment Max package and my new channels, services etc appeared almost straightaway
![]() Really like the iOS BT TV app, although I didn't bother setting up remote record for it as I did that on the official YouView app ages ago. Does the remote record function on the BT app render the YouView app pretty useless now, or would anyone recommend me keeping both? The extra channels I have now are OK for what they are, nothing massively exciting, although I'm sure I have guaranteed availability of AMC when it launches in September. The Kids selection looks decent, my daughters don't watch a massive amount of TV when they stay at mine, but I'm sure they'll get some use out of Nicktoons, Disney etc.

Any BT/YouViewers able to answer my question about whether the remote record function on the BT app renders the same feature on the YouView app obsolete?
Though even if it is, I'll keep the regular YouView app on my phone because I uninstalled BT on there. I wanted my daughter to have the BT app on her iPad Mini, but I found out later only a maximum of two registered devices can stream the live channels. Even though the app now only streams on my iPad, for some reason I have to now wait 30 days for it to work fully on my daughters device, which is a bit frustrating

It sort of renders it not required BUT the YouView app does have some better points.
There is no booking section in the BT app so it is not easy to see what has been set to record and what has recorded. The channels on the YouView app reflect what channels you have on the box better (any you hide are hidden on the YouView app but not on the BT app, channels update quicker - you will probably already see the BT Sport Europe channel on the YouView app). The YouView app has some extra additions like the categories section and I think you will find the YouView app gets some nice new additions that may be nice going forwards. So mainly they do the same thing but each has a few small advantages to the other. |

![]() Reckon I'll keep the YouView app on my iPad for the time being then. It's certainly staying on my iPhone. |

I would also like more HD versions of the channels that BT already offer.
