I've just watched the episode with Craig's pursual of a drunk Anthony and I have to say it's one of the most uncomfortable things I have ever watched.

What I'm interested to know is how did the viewers react to this at the time?
LMAO!!!

I watched Big Brother religiously (seriously, it was my favourite show right from the first series in 2000) and I never missed an episode.

Then this episode aired and I remember watching the whole affair starting and for the first time in six series, I switched the TV off before the highlights show had finished.

So there's my answer. It was completely OTT but I feel like this kick started the beginning of the end of Big Brother. If this happened now on Big Brother - Channel 5 style - I wouldn't be at all surprised, but at the time in 2005 I couldn't bring myself to watching what was essentially gay porn with clothes on. **shudders**

The biggest disappointment from that series was Eugene coming second. He should've won Big Brother that year for being EPIC!!!

It was a teenage crush played out on TV... most of us have been there when you are fixated on the one you "love" and you just cannot imagine that they don't love you back.... poor Craig, having the cameras on such an intimate and formative time...

Poor Anfonee too mind.

And then we had Shree and Noreen - now that didn't strike me as a teenage crush, felt much more like stalking.... wonder if the m-f dynamic played any part in that though.

I know the episode you mean and it was very uncomfortable, but that also made it oh-so- watchable. I think BB did intervene and tell Craig to let the very drunk Antony speak to BB alone in the end.

Craig and Antony were best friends, then fell out spectacularly, but kept making up. Craig was clearly besotted - it was first love for him. Every evening on the live feed after midnight they would have long, circular rows that went on for hours sometimes. I remember one in particular about Craig 'hoying' drink over Antony that was hilariously interminable.

An absolutely odious individual!
On the LF it showed Derek telling Craig he should have his way with Anthony (regardless of whether Anthony wanted to or not), & he (Derek), would 'counsel' Anthony, after the deed was done!

This was never shown of the highlight show, & was never commented on on any of the sister shows!

A truly horrible nasty smarmy git of a man!

I often see this series talked about as one of the best which is why I'm re watching it. It just seems to be a bunch of housemates who can't stand each other and argue 24/7 lol. The first few weeks were entertaining but I'm getting a bit bored now although I'll keep going. Need a break though after watching that episode
You have Kinga and her bottle to look forward to

Surpised it took 3 pages for a mention - it was certainly an opened mouthed viewing moment. Anthony and Craigs reaction helped make it.

I can't remember anything like this. What a bizarre thing to say.

Maybe my phrasing was a bit harsh.

You had Anthony drunk off his head lay of the floor and a besotted Craig kissing him over and over saying "I love you" repeatedly.

I found it really awkward to watch.

I know the episode you mean, it was cringey, and it wouldn't have aired nowadays, if it did, people would demand an ejection for it, which is ridiculous.

As long as a HM doesn't feel uncomfortable with someones advances, the other person shouldn't be told off. Anthony didn't care, in fact, he was best mates in there with Craig pretty much!

I completely agree with the post Master Ozzy sent, the PC brigade has ruined BB, everything is offensive in life nowadays. If they aired the bottle incident now, those precious viewers would have collapsed before making their way to the phone to call OFCOM.

I think in 2016 they'd have asked Antony if he was comfortable with all the Craig cuddling and kissing and Antony would probably have said yes, because if he'd said no the massive LGBT BB fandom would have voted him out for being homophobic.

James Hill won CBB for a reason.

Thing is comparing Austin to Craig is ridiculous. Austin was clearly just friends with James, Craig certainly wanted more from Anthony. The former was actually good to watch just a standard friendship, A + C was uncomfortable to watch in some ways. Austin didn't follow James around saying he loves him.

If Anthony complained, he probably still would have won. Everyone was so toxic in their own way that series that I think he would have won all along anyway. Only other winner would have been Eugene, who IMO would have won if he didn't take that money.

While I agree it was all a bit creepy, it didn't look to me like Anthony (I typed that pronouncing the 'th' like Craig used to ) was uncomfortable in the slightest, and that is an important point, all too often in today's PC world, whether or not the Subject themselves is actually offended or made to feel uncomfortable is swept aside to make way for the witchhunt!

I was far more concerned by Shahbaz's percieved "right to grope" Glyn (backed up by some of his housemates)

A grown gay man explaining that he should be able to touch Glyn if he wants, and Glyn should be treating it like he is just one of his Rugby mates? Everyone knew if it had been an 18 year old girl and a middle aged straight man spinning that line he would be out by the back door and on the sex offenders list.
However, at the time it was the height of the PC era, and the world was far more worried about offending the gay man than protecting the uncomfortable 18 year old boy.

He would have won had he not taken the £50,000. The voting was close between them and I believe that's what tipped it in Ant's favour.

I think so too.
Anferny was not my favourite, but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him win because he was openly delighted and jumped around in triumph.

Craigs infatuation with Anthony was the cringiest thing ever to watch, it was the times of live feed too , so lots of cringe to see.
But Anthony never cared at all, in fact he loved himself so much i think he just thought it was normal for people to be that crazy over him, and it did help him win the show.

Anthony and Craig actually lived together for a while after the show, but they had a falling out Anthony claimed Craig started acting weird ( surely not) and jealous , and now Craig refuses to speak to Anthony.

that was the last I heard about them both

Where are you watching these re runs???

Are you watching it on YouTube? I've been watching a few of the CBB series but couldn't see a whole series of the "civilian" ones - and this would be my fav series to watch again x
It's on YouTube
Craigs eviction clip 7 min in show Craig all over Anthony .

I know everyone hates Maxwell, but my one of my all time favourite moments of BB was when he broke the news to Craig that he had a camp voice (which Craig was in complete denial of!) and did a little impression of him. Funny stuff

Even if he was up, there's no certainty, he would've been evicted. There were a lot of unpopular HMs, that year and Craig had a few fans, myself included. Yes, he was totally cringe and sometimes made uncomfortable viewing but he made a memorable contribution to BB6.

He did have a cult following. I really didn't like him but my teeange son and his mates thought he was hilarious and would quote him. It was one of those situations where as a person he was horrible but looking back, as a character I guess he did add a lot to the series.

I didn't particulary like BB6 as a series, the producers just seeemed to have gone for as many unpleasant characters as possible. I ended up supporting Science, who in any previous series I'd probably have found the most annoying.

Sad really it used to be a cracking show, with some real caricatures.
