Couple of things.

Is Milton Jones live stand up any good? (£24 at Dudley Town Hall in October I noticed.)

Nina Conti, is she the one with the puppet? Has she ever appeared without the puppet?

I agree totally with that. it was so unfunny and went on far to long. And then the music started up again and we got more of it later. I am so going off Dara he's just not funny any more. I so wish Frankie and Rustle were back it was great then .

I don't think she's suited to this kind of show at all. She was poor on QI and on 8oo10C.

Not that I know of. Even in her recent documentary about being a giggle doctor, she would use Monk for her pieces to camera. Not to make them more entertaining for the audience, but because she feels she can't be funny or honest without it.

I don't know how anyone managed to lever Nina Conti into this, she so badly suited to this sort of thing on the face of it.
I've got a vague memory of her wearing lycra in a Ch 4 sketch show ages ago, I find her hugely charming and can do almost no wrong in my eyes, though.
Wow you're the other DS FM who watched Nina's Giggle Doctors thing, knew they'd be another.

I don't watch QI (I listen to the Radio version, Museum of Curiosity), 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown, it a long wait for poor gags.
It's also got that charmless, unfunny, change the damn channel, Wilkinson fella in it, that's just the tin hat on the format.

Personally, I can't suffer Milton Jones outside of this program, tried his old radio stuff, he used to sport a west country accent, it was that old, don't think I lasted 10 minutes.
His Radio sitcom and his TV sitcom, soon jacked those in too.

He does have his fans though, simply going on the amount of work he gets from the BBC, hunt around on Radio 4, maybe some of his stand-up stuff on their server.

With all the posts about Mock The Week going downhill, would it be a good idea to try and get Rory Bremner as an occasional guest?

Apparently next week Josh Widdicombe is taking Andy Parson's place.

Matt Forde is making his second appearance next week. It seems appearing in a short TV Series with Jon Richardson has got him work on TV panel shows.

She's appeared without a puppet on numerous occasions but only when she's done a 'human puppet' routine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2puwRopD8E

I suggested her because I was giving an example of someone who can do a funny routine but wouldn't be well suited to a panel show like Mock The Week.

Wilkinson's been dropped, so saying that influences your decision not to watch it is like saying you won't watch the next series of Top Gear because you don't like Richard Hammond.

Oh, I agree.

Sounds like I'm the only one who likes Milton Jones round here. I love his radio show, Another Case of Milton Jones.

Nice fillet of the post and the preceding sentence, and the end of the one you have left in the quote 'that's just the tin hat on the format'
Guess what, I don't like the format, as I said in the sentence you've filleted out of the post.
I don't know who's in the program, as I've already said, I don't bleedin watch it, why this would need explaining, I don't know.

I class the human puppet as a puppet Either way, it's something she can metaphorically hide behind.

Tiff Stevenson didn't get much of a look in last night.

No point in shoehorning women into panel shows if they're not going to contribute - or be edited out.

Romesh and Rob are turning into a double act.

You've got your confirmation bias out again.
We've seen male and female guests not contribute a lot or not make the edit before.
She didn't do a huge amount, but she wasn't a lump of wood either, I think we've all seen worse, but probably forgotten them as not worth remembering.
Pretty sure Tiff has been on before too.

Fiona Allen, Lauren Lavern, Zoe Lyons haven't been on for a while either, were they 'shoehorned'.
It was an incredibly stupid move making that announcement about the panel shows, obvious that this sort of thing would happen.

As for the double act thing, we've had running gags/references go over multiple episodes before, especially Dara.
If one of them dips out someone else will probably take up the thread.
I think Russell Howards euphemism for tits 'tatty bojangles' turned into a running gag.

Would you class Fiona Allen & Lauren Laverne as stand ups?

I'm enjoyed this second episode I liked the running gags like the return of Megabus, and especially Milton's one liners about the London Eye and Anti Climax book

I wouldn't class Lauren as a stand-up, but I remember Lauren was quite funny when she appeared on Mock the Week. I can't remember too much about Fiona Allen's appearance(s) though.

Gawd knows how many times I've seen that when surfing past Dave and it still makes me smile.
Like, Would I lie to you, most of the episodes bare repeating IMO, some bare multiple repeats though.

Lauren can be funny on the odd occasion, I agree she isn't a stand up.

She is much better as a dj on BBC 6 music morning show during the week, not a bad singer either in her younger days.

You haven't watched Embarrassing Bodies?

Romesh is doing quite well then. Piles is probably the funniest medical condition known to comedy. Except for sufferers of course, but even they would probably laugh at piles jokes.

Comedy is subjective. You can find anyone not funny if you really set your mind to it, then nothing they say can amuse you.

Yeah - where is Andy this week?
Seemed a bit lacklustre - everyone seemed a little bored to be honest.
