I wonder if the media creation tool (eventually) will include this or you'll have to do endless updates ?
Pretty certain MS will issue a new ISO, as one of main features is ability to clean install it using a Windows 7/8 key, which would not make sense if you did not have a standalone ISO. MS broke ranks on Insider 10565 and created an ISO for it for same reasons. Only question really is how soon? |

This new Windows 10 pocket size device looks very interesting;
Love the way it not only plugs into any monitor or tv but also into an iPad. Apparently it will be android compatible soon Intel Atom x5-Z8500 (Cherry Trail, 1.44 GHz, up to 2.24 GHz) 2 GB LP DDR3 32 GB eMMC Intel HD Graphics (Gen 8, 600 MHz) 1x micro-USB (charge only), 1x microSD slot Wi-Fi 802.11 a/c, Bluetooth 4.0 0.52 x 3.17 x 4.88 inches (HxWxD) and weighs 0.44 pounds. Windows 10 Home Dock has one USB 3.0, one USB 2.0 port and an HDMI port. Plus, it has a fingerprint reader, windows hello compatible. Its only $99 dollars with a dock included but you can buy additional docks for $39 http://www.kangaroo.cc/index.php InFocus also says that this first Kangaroo model is only the beginning, and it has big plans for the future. Higher-end models will be made available. Also, the company has plans to release additional base units that can be docked with the Kangaroo to add new functionality. |

New release is an Insider release not RTM.
I suspect this is like 10240 ie Insiders got it a few days before final release. |

http://www.howtogeek.com/222831/how-...tead-of-white/ Worked great. ![]() Unfortunately......I then updated my Firefox ESR release to the new version.....and in the new version.......the nice title bar colour had gone again. (Yes...I know there are other ways to customise Firefox). |

I'm very happy with Windows 7 but support ends in early 2020 and this would be my only reason for taking up the free upgrade offer for Windows 10. Any other Windows 7ers wondering whether or not to upgrade?

Windows 10 locks up on my laptop sometimes and the only way to sort it is power off button and back on.

No matter what people say Windows 10 is the future. Of course if 7 meets your needs, then if it ain't broke, no need to fix it. It's a bit like cars - an old trusty car may go forever, but if you want the benefit of more modern technology, then you have to change. Of course, if you don't want aircon, abs, airbags, gps etc ..... By the time 2020 gets here, your pc will probably be on its last legs anyway. Why not follow this guide, then you can update to 7, try it and if not happy, revert back to 7. http://www.howtogeek.com/223139/how-...to-windows-10/ |

A more compelling reason is free upgrade offer only lasts until July 28th 2016.

i did yesterday get some advice from a local pc shop to find what to do with 3 of my pc's, 1 which is on windows 7 & crashes freq ,another is a laptop running on WXP,& another running on WV. to get W10 on all of them will not work,so the only opt is to replace them all with brand new pc's. that will be a very costly move, one that will not be done anytime soon. so while they all work at the moment very well ,minus the crashing one they will stay as they are. when the time comes with the money avalible ,its most likley the crashing one will get replaced 1st.

As previously discussed, a clean install of Windows (whatever the version) will likely sort out the 'crashing' one.

If you start another thread giving the full details of your PC we can help you out. I doubt you need to buy a disk.

Microsoft announced a number of changes for the upgrade for free to Windows 10, along with some media creation tool changes.
Switching the upgrade from an optional to a recommend install in Windows Update. More here on the Microsoft windows 10 blog |

"Early next year, we expect to be re-categorizing Windows 10 as a “Recommended Update”. Depending upon your Windows Update settings, this may cause the upgrade process to automatically initiate on your device. "
Ah, an advance warning this time !

For now it will at least trigger an UAC prompt, so when I see that it's Windows Installer asking I know to tell it to sod off.

i did try this myself ,& had the same issue
The most reliable method is to download the iso and run its setup.exe. If that fails, some people have reported success with Workarounds for their Model's architecture. The last resort is to remain on W7 and if that needs reinstalling (Repair Install), do that instead. |

Some computers cannot run W10. However the normal single click method of upgrading is flaky and the error message may not be true.
