It seems to me that it has been pointless you being on the insider programme if you fail to follow the progress of the OS and the intentions.
There will be more updates to 10240 before the 29th and also after that date. I only on it to be nosy anyway |

I think by "unfinished" does he just mean it does not yet support extensions? Similar to how Google Chrome was initially "unfinished."
A Os is a bit different to a browser. I also wonder if Edge can be uninstalled, unlike Internet Exploder. |

I have found Edge to be fantastic on first activation.
It lets me download Firefox and Chrome and then I dump it without a peep |

The whole point in being in the insider programme is try out the Os, or as someone else said, be Microsoft test monkeys and save Ms a lot of money.
I only on it to be nosy anyway There is no way that MS could test even an infinitesimal fraction of that even if they paid for thousands of testers. If they did, the product would vastly more expensive. Your response calling people test monkeys is frankly bordering on offensive and does a great dis-service to the many people who have gladly participated in the program to feed back valuable comments to MS. If you dont want to participate, don't but don't slag off others. |

Oh for crying out loud if you think that is offensive, then I suggest you shut yourself indoors and never come out again. People really need to stop being so sensitive, If I did not want to participate then I would not have |

They never had this insider thing on say windows 95 and Xp, it is only since Windows 7 that they have got the public to do their testing.

Interesting as I am usually accused of being totally insensitive!
Look I did not mean it the way it came out or the way you thought it came out, it was like a jokey type thing. I did not mean any offence, but there is a lot worse out there., |

I only on it to be nosy anyway No good muttering at the screen if it's something that is being discussed/fixed in due process. Better to input your 10 pence worth to MS, while having the whole picture. But, as you are just being nosey none of that will apply to you, I guess.

With the 'test monkeys' being developers/ enthusiasts it can be a good marketing exercise.
forums.theregister.co.uk/forum/1/2015/07/18/windows_10_xbox_streaming/ Here, the xbox feature/bloat gets less enthusiasm, commentors see Microsfts new imposition policy in a negative light. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiACjVsxFYk The best of Windows 8, what's that then, lol. As for live tiles, many users are already asking me, when I upgrade to Windows 10 can you get rid of the live tiles for me and make the start look better, oh dear! I'm sure this is going to be the big first how to remove feature. Must admit, I did it too for the insider builds I ran, some customisation was possible. Was looking at all the start replacement forums over the weekend and they are full of the question, is it ready for windows 10? Shame really but... I really find Microsoft ads poor and you really need to concentrate to take in those messages and I understand their 'semi-hidden' meaning, many just will not. Id rather they had Joe Belfore in their ads, hes a friendly guy who really puts the message over well, as he has done in all the press and keynotes of late. |

Is this the future?
August 2016 - 'The massive initial take up of Windows 10 has gone horribly wrong, teaching tens of millions of computer users that something for nothing rarely works, and in the case of Windows 10 not at all. The 'Edge' browser has proven to be every bit as bug-riddled as its predecessor, and Microsoft's insistence on maintaining a tile style interface is thought to be costing them thousands of users every day. People who knew Windows 7 and how it worked, have better things to do than try to work out where the controls have gone in Windows 10. They're fed up with daily crashes and the seemingly endless stream of forced patches. Patches which rather than fixing things seem only to increase the OS instability. One user tweeted "Windows 10 is not fit for purpose." The situation is now so bad the the future of Microsoft itself is uncertain, as once loyal customers desert the company they feel has deserted them, choosing instead the new Apple Peach OS, which guarantees to run all Windows apps at least as well as Windows 7, on a Mac or PC. When asked where it all went wrong, a Microsoft spokesman said "I think it was when we chose official Windows 10 wallpaper that looked like a prison cell." |

Things I'm looking forward to in Windows 10
1.Multiple Desktops. 2.Cortana. 3. Some universal apps now on the desktop and side by side, no more modernmix and no more losing focus. 4. Edge browser, really enjoyed that in the insider builds and it seems tough enough to try ditching firefox/chrome, but the extensions need to be available soon. Re Cortana, probably like me many of you will not have a decent microphone for your desktop machine (most laptops will). The webcams that sit on top of the screen are not great as they tend to pick up a lot of noise, so best to get a more localised microphone. A good one is this, only £3.58 and free delivery, works a treat and excellent for that speech recognition perfection you will need for Cortana. They look cool too. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Computer-Gea...7380377&sr=1-1 |

Agreed, but, part of the process, surely, is to keep up with the Statements from MS and to research/read the various forums and blogs that discuss current or upcoming builds.

Still now I have the start is back menu installed, things are better. |

I have disabled Cortana, anyway as far as i know to get it working you need to be signed into a MS account, Quote:

Tend not to have used any as most of what the modern apps can do I can do better with third party software.Quote:

Edge do not seem to bad, it certainly seems to be speedy. Not sure if i would ditch Chrome if I updated to Windows 10. I use Chrome well chromium on linux. MS certainly need to get extensions sorted. Quote:

It is so good last year I thought I would replace it with another trust one, It looks the same, apart from being black instead of white, but it was useless. |

Been available in linux for years, I never really used them in Linux, so I doubt I will have any use for them in Windows and also I have two monitors.
I doubt 90% of people will use multiple desktops, maybe even more I also have a multi monitor setup, but would like the six they had in the recent OSX keynotes. Not sure if it will get public use, but most Windows users will have never seen it, but it can be useful in many scenarios. Not sure if you can start up with a set of desktops, would hope it keeps the state from a restart and when MS send out their forced update! |

Regarding multiple Desktops, they will be of no interest to me until they are true independent Desktops, ie with their own sets of icons, files, folders and shortcuts. Since I've never found any 3rd party that could do it to my liking either, I suppose there is a fundamental architecture problem that prevents a solution |

I am quite peed off with the amount of settings that get reset to default with each new Build.

On the other hand, W10 Mobile is definitely not ready for mass market. Or at least the latest build that I have on old Lumia 1020 is pretty bad. The store is dire, the interface is pretty poor and the camera app - whilst looking good - only records at full resolution (sorry, but I don't want 38mp stills all the time, ok!) |
