Chromebook won't be to run the apps that I can on Windows, Plus you have to be connected all of time. Windows is king.

A rather interesting mantra that. If it is said so very often does that make it true?
Sometimes it seems only perception matters.

It removes software, but as yet, it is not actually banning the user software from running.
Are they setting the tone for the future I do wonder?”

Make you wonder and make me think maybe I was right to worry about windows 10 after all.

I like it so far!!

While a chomebook is not for me, i can understand why some people like it. Ok you can not run Windows apps, but it is not made to do that and yes everything you do is in a browser, but you do not have to be connected all the time to use it.

The chromebook will sync the data when it gets connected to the net, but does store stuff on it's own drive.

Anyone managed to get Cortana working with the "English" keyboard, ie 2uc is" not @?
Tried Googling, but can only get 1 or the other, not both together, or is it just a W10 glitch.

The first release of Windows 10 is a bit screwy with keyboard languages. I suggest you check regional settings in Control Panel and completely remove the US keyboard setting and make sure only the UK keyboard is present.

Very sneaky in renaming the bits that spy on us. I don't think that the resetting of the settings back to defaults was a bug either. The fact is they was found out.

I *still* don't know what or who Cortana is or what it/he/she does! I probably will never use it when I upgrade next year to W7 (if the worst bugs/annoyances seem to have been ironed out), so could someone tell me if I can continue to ignore it, or uninstall it, if/when I do upgrade?

Check original Install Language (use Belarc Advisor) compared with Locale Regional Settings

Windows and its Apps can be fussy sometimes.

Cortana (and other MS services) don't work either if you lockdown all the Privacy settings.

How do you know? You don't know what it is or how it works, not exactly a sensible basis for decision making....

Oh for goodness sake! OK you wore me down so I've just read the Wiki link someone posted for me (thanks to who did that).

I don't have a microphone, don't use Bing, don't use any apps (if it's one of them) and absolutely nothing else mentioned is of any interest to me. Waste of disk space, thank goodness I can ignore it (I hope!) if/when I upgrade.

This is a really pointless set of posts. Either use it, or don't use it (turn it off). It's not compulsory and complaing about disk space is just stupid, as everybody uses some features but not others. Is MS supposed at make every feature optional? More optional features, morre bugs.

I think Cortana is that cool car Body and Doyle used in The Professionals. MS can't erase my childhood memories I'm afraid.

Not sure if you are doing it correctly. Proper way is to click on the installed laguages, click on options, then click on 'add a keyboard' and select english uk, and then delete us one.
