Why do you look for updates daily?
They are installed automatically

I have a laptop and desktop. The laptop is on 10 Home. The desktop is on 7 Pro and will be upgraded to 10 Pro in due course.

10 Home is on mandatory auto-updates. 10 Pro is theoretically not. Now, as I understand it, in the first few months after 10 RTM, both Home and Pro have been receiving all updates but I gather at some point (maybe from now?) Pro will move to the situation where it only gets bug fixes automatically while "feature" updates can be deferred by months. This depends on what update settings you've specified. So I would check your Pro to see what they are.

Try these methods

Method 1:
Clear Windows update temp files:
Run the following commands from a command box with admin rights, and press Enter after each command:
Net stop wuauserv
cd %systemroot%
Ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
Net start wuauserv

Then check for updates from settings menus.

Method 2:
1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder.
2. Now, run the command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow".

Then check for updates from settings menus.

Not perfect but a good workaround for placeholders is as follows.

1) Open your web browser and sign-in to your OneDrive account, navigate to Files, and access any of the folders.

2) Next, you'll need your unique CID ID from the address bar link, which looks something like this:

https://onedrive.live.com/?id=root&cid=A12B1234567FD1D2
(numbers are different of course).

The ID is what comes after ?cid=. From my example, the cid is A12B1234567FD1D2

3) In Folder enter this URL: https://d.docs.live.net/ and append the CID ID. The URL should now look like this:

https://d.docs.live.net/A12B1234567FD1D2

4) Check the Reconnect at sign-in and Connect using Onedrive credential

5) Click Finish and enter your OneDrive credentials (your Onedrive MS Account details.

You can now access files from the mapped network drive in more or less the same way placeholders used to work, without any syncing needed.

Tried both and still no updates.

Last updates were installed on the 9th.

Anyone know for sure if there actually have been any updates since December 9th for the pro version?

What are your update settings in Win 10 Pro?

There's also a note here.

"If it’s been less than 31 days since you upgraded to Windows 10, you won’t get the November update straight away; this will allow you to go back to your previous version of Windows if you choose. After the 31 days have passed, your PC will automatically download the November update."

So when did you upgrade to 10 Pro?

That note refers to the TH2 update, not normal updates.

Have there been security updates independently of the November Update? I know there are supposed to be those two branches where for Pro you might be on current branch for business but I've no idea whether that's supposed to have started yet.

Anyway, let's see if GrannyGruntbuck provides more info.

Can't say what the settings are as I am not at home.

There have been at least 16 updates (several at a time) - now on 10586.36.

I know. What I was trying to get at was whether November Update version 1511 was a so-called "feature" update that optionally might not be deliverable to Win 10 Pro if it was set to Current Branch For Business (CBB). In that case it would get security updates only. If so, I assume they would be numbered differently?

And are the 16 updates to the November update or are they generic fixes that would be deliverable to the CBB people as well?

Otoh, I've heard that the CBB has not yet started and everyone should be getting the same updates. But I've not seen that stated anywhere. All very confusing.

My win 10 32 bit is on 10.0.10586 and seems to be getting updates ok.

My win 10 Pro 64 bit is on 10.0.10240 and the last updates were on the 9th.

Not sure exactly what settings you mean but....

Notify to schedule restart.
Give me updates for other msoft products when I update.

This is on both computers.

That means you're Pro is not yet on the November update.

In that first link it shows a screen which has "defer upgrades." I don't have Win 10 Pro but I do know it has the option but Home doesn't. Maybe you have it set to that without your knowing? If it is set to that then it's possible that you might not see the November update for a few months, like that article says.

What I don't know is whether that behaviour starts with the November update or whether it will apply from the next big one (March or whatever).

Now it is making sense. Best thing to do is download iso from here (dual home/pro), click on it and run setup.exe and you will update to PRO now, and then get subsequent updates.

Will I lose anything if I do that?

I would love to say 100% no. It is not supposed to if you select to keep all files, as you are just doing an upgrade, but regrettably crap happens sometimes.

Having said that manual upgrades have generally proven to be more reliable than the automatic upgrades.

Like all major updates, it is always a good plan to make an image backup of pc first using Macrium Reflect Free or similar. As a minimum, ALWAYS backup valuable data before doing any upgrade.

I have an image of my old windows 8.1 64 bit set-up so it would not be an absolute disaster if it did wipe everything. I would definitely make copies of my documents, pictures, videos etc.
