A number of people have been asking me that they are not getting the report in the Get Windows 10 taskbar app.
It runs overnight each night, so might be worth keeping your laptop and desktop on for a few nights, so the report can run.
Its not a condition that it needs to run, but nice to get the all clear, instead of a blank report.

What time on the 29th is the world going to grind to a halt?

28th/29th - midnight?
29th/30th - midnight?
11am just after you have turned off after sitting up all night?
Other?

I also thought you did not get it if the PC does not pass the MS hardware / driver test.

I did a brief check on HP's website and they don't yet seem to have issued drivers for Windows 10 so I'd be inclined to hold off updating to Windows 10 until they do issue those drivers to enable full and proper communication between the operating system and the printer. I guess you could ask HP - http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/sit...6534.199480143 - when they will be issuing the drivers for Win 10 for that particular printer.

On the other point, personal saved data is usually preserved in operating system updates but I must stress that it's always advisable to back up any important and sensitive personal data, etc. before doing an operating system update just in case things do go pear-shaped.
...thanks for that - have tried their 'Contact Support' section however the webpage doesn't actually load, it just continually tries to load!!

If I just plug in the printer into a Windows 10 machine (my laptop after its updated), won't windows auto search the web for drivers?

If it doesn't find any, does this mean the printer will not function without these?! If so, I may hold off installing Windows 10 then, for a while........

I don't know if this has been mentioned - I looked/searched through this thread but did not see anything though.

Today, I wanted to download latest version of windows 10 technical preview, but MS have now stopped access to the isos (as it close to actual release). You can still find it on a few independent sites.

I assume I can still update to latest version using windows update?

You missed Gabe Aul blog and the email sent to all insiders around July 15th

http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwin...nd-slow-rings/

On Monday we announced that builds from here on will only be available through Windows Update, so to get this one you can either wait and it will be installed automatically (but who are we kidding, I know you want it now!) or go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates. Remember that you’ll need to be logged in with your Microsoft Account in order to receive the build.

Yes i know its free to most, or you may want to keep you're win 7/8/8.1 but just spotted

http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-...oft-windows-10

I presume they have them already in stock, but cant release them till 29th

Thought it would have been cheaper. I remeber when win7 came out i got it from pc world for £30ish for limited intro sale.

Good deal, if some places did knock them out for that

In Exeter, the out of town Comet, PC World/Currys and large Tesco Extra were all virtually next door to each other (Comet now defunct)

I needed to buy a laptop on a Sunday (Oct 2009), and went up there. I decided to get the W7 Upgrade too because it had only just been released, and I wanted to upgrade my Desktop so the hassle with networking etc new laptop would be reduced.

Tesco had hundreds of W7 Upgrades on display at £50
Comet/PCWorld/Currys had lesser displays, but still lots, and selling at £60
Looked at all 3 shops to decide what to do.

I wouldn't normally buy from shops, but it all worked out very conveniently
(apart from me having to threaten to break the Sales Assistant's legs if he said I really ought to buy Norton and an Extended Warranty one more time)

Laptop from Comet and W7 from Tesco, in the end, with some nice dips and exotic crisps and bits and pieces that our local Tesco don't stock

Windows 7 will not be available until October, but many retailers are offering generous discounts for early orders - as much as 55 per cent at DGSi.

Ended up buying 5copies, for friends/family, had to register under different name as sales were limited.

Interesting to see how many different ways you can get

I am surprised that the full retail standalone version isn't up on the torrent sites yet.

Edit: Ah, just found a release that says it is the final version and/or will update just like everyone else.

Sundays are boring so I'll give it a go during F1 tomorrow.

not me boss

The pic ^ was from an activated W7 Pro x64 with a W10 Pro RTM inplace upgrade ie click setup.exe from inside W7 - no serial required. I tried a clean RTM install with the generic W10 install serial, and it just goes into notification (as expected).

I'm a diehard W7 person - I did the RTM upgrade malarkey in VMware just for a laugh. Couldn't live without WMC - too many expensive HD TV tuner cards.

I'm just trying another Clean+Clean install on the other laptop. I've done too many of the bloody things now. 64 to 86 and back to 64.

This last one, I forgot to let it create the System Reserved partition by not Installing from Unallocated

And I want it on Local Account and will link to MS later so I can choose my default User Name, other wise the setup is based on email address name

There was some debate as to whether 10240 would be the final build.

Have seen the 1024 build but not sure if i should download it or not and if it's actually the official one or not, going to wait unless i'm told otherwise.

Just install Windows 10 as a clean install on a spare Hard Drive.

I've just spent 2 hours with it so far trying to make it look like Windows 7 rather than my Android phone! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Got the Quick Launch up and running so far but will work more on it tomorrow. Can't find anything at the moment!

Oh and I hated the chasing dots after 20 seconds - Is that a record?

Talking of "expensive HD TV tuner cards", Windows 10 won't recognise my Satellite Tuner cards yet but I will see what if anything I can do tomorrow to persuade it otherwise. If I can't get some/any drivers working then it's a no go for Windows 10 from me.
