Just uninstall it and then install the one you had before then.
Fortunately I have the old driver saved for this very reason, I just wanted to know what it was as it was no normal update. 45 minutes and went to a very basic screen for ages.

Yeah, I suspect there'll be a load of 'rushed out' drivers for 10 that won't work properly with everything.

I've got the driver but as it's an older one windows won't let me update to it!

Is there a way a can force it to install the old driver?

Please ignore as I have managed to force the old working driver now!

That is good news. The last push from MS did its job then to move many of those waverers to upgrade
Do think that MS should bring the extended support end date forwards from Jan 14 2020 to say early next year for all home consumers.
But of course allow enterprise to still stretch it out if they need to.

There's still an absolute TON of the rest of the world on 7 though.

There are some W10 enthusiasts in Africa (Chad), too. I wonder if they just weren't looking and the next thing W10 was rearing its ugly head back at them And right below (Central African Republic) rules OSX, that must be some local dictator showing their interest in everything overpriced

But real point is that it is the G8 type countries that are MS's major cash cows.

Was just looking at differing countries too, its quite interesting to see the spread of OS worldwide.
I'm surprised by the high OSX in some of those countries. The Central European Rebuplic has had quite a jump with OSX since March of this year. Wonder if some charities have donated a load of Macs there.

I don't know why anyone is surprised by this, after all, it's FREEEEEE!!!

All those poor souls who got forcibly upgraded without even knowing it was gonna happen, and who will never bother to try and work out if it was or wasn't for the best. Not to mention the poor gamers who are tearing their hair out over incompatibilities but have left it too long to revert.

I'll soon be included in the W 10 stats too, because I will install it on my two PCs to keep it FREEE!!!! But I will continue to use W7 and W8 until I find out much more about Microsoft's longer term intentions on W10. That may take a couple of years.

Windows has a massive existing base and Windows still dominates new business sales.

Yet, in the US Chromebooks outsell OS/X, so with Chomebooks about to become the de facto multi tasking Android laptop, what happens in the future is anyones guess.

The rise in chromebooks in US has a lot to do with US classroom takeup recently.
We have certainly seen a big uptake of education specifc apps aligned with 'Google for Education' requested there and in Europe and certainly been quite an interesting journey recently and a money earner for us in that app development area.

One area we have given up on now is Windows store apps.
We tried for a good year or so to have it within our sales pitches as an extra portal for any any app development/diversity/expansion plans a client requires. But the interest was so low to the point that noone had really taken any interest. I have also now removed it from our apprentice education plans, but allow them with the available tools to play with it if they so wish in that area. The tools and learning support for it all are excellent as always in that area from MS.

That is most promising news but, if they have any sense, Microsoft ought to build on that base in rich countries where Win 10 is still lagging behind (most EU countries, Japan, South Korea) and have an advertising campaign and perhaps an extension of the free upgrade deadline.

It's not just Apple's OS X that's gaining too:

Chromebooks outsell Macs for the first time. Google has quietly become an important force in PC sales, according to latest figures.

The Chrome OS on Chromebooks is based on Gentoo Linux and when combined with the Linux Mint, Zorin, Ubuntu figures plus OS X, that means that Unix-derived operating systems now comprise 30%+ market share in some developed countries (source = Statcounter).

I have read a bit about the OSX, they say that other monitored OSs (which also means various Windows versions separately) are evenly distributed which allowed OSX to take a lead in Central Africa

Yeah considering it's a free upgrade, they've been forcing I mean casually reminding users to do it and also stating that previous versions of Windows directly fund ISIS it's no wonder it's surging ahead exactly like Windows 8 upgrade didn't

I reckon MS must have taken lessons from double glazing salesmen on how to get people to accept things they don't necessarily want

Indeed. Plus there is an enthusiastic group who use Chromebook for its safety.

I see a new takeup from people who will not want to be encumbered with Windows yet want something more complex than Android.

Well article said Europe and US. We can probably assume Canada counts in there as well.

G8 countries are

Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States

If by Europe, we really mean EU (so Russia is excluded), then that makes it 6 countries.

Security and support concerns perhaps. MS doesn't want to see Windows 7 become the new XP - an operating system that will linger for years after people should have moved to something more modern.

No need to be so abrasive.

Neither is Japan, so that would make 5 countries.

The huge percentage still using 7 could be because of 7's good level of USB audio recording. That seems to have been messed up after 7 and hasn't been fixed since. That could be the reason why a lot of Windows 7 users have stuck with 7. There's always 8.1 until properly working drivers are released for all hardware before 10's release.

FFS - do you really believe this!

I would be surprised if even as high as 10% of users do usb audio recording.

The reason majority do not wish to updgrade is simply the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" principle coupled with the fact many do not like change, or are frightened to change.
