If you can hang on until January you may well just pick yourself up at a bargain

Norton 360 and windows 10 really don't get on together, endless error messages from Norton and had uninstall and re-install a few times too.

Windows 10 has also stopped recognising two of my sign-in accounts, and I am now on my my third user account. Oh and two complete crashes and OS re-installs since July as well. Wonderful isn't it ?

Quite a few people have had issues with 360 and W10 , our 360Premiere was up for renewal and we upgraded to Norton Security Premium with backup which allows 10 user licences so more than 360 does and it worked out better value that 360 and has no issues at all ( if you upgrade to another Norton such as NS Premium remember to save a copy of your ID safe file just in case ) . It appears a few things have issues with W10 including Adblock Plus which has still not been rectified and no longer works correctly with W10

Which browser are you using? Have you tried re-installing?
Adblock Plus is installed on my laptop with W10 with no issues...

Adblock Plus works perfectly without issues on W10 for many different browsers. Many that I use daily.
The beta programme for the extensions for W10 is not reporting any problems either.

I changed from Adblock Plus to Ublock Origin for some reason which I have forgotten (probably something I read here). That works just fine for me.

It is with all browsers and many people are having issues , apparently the developers were working on it

Not sure how it is now if they have repaired it but I changed to Del Ad as it was impossible to work with Adblock any more .

IE is what we use at work and until Microsoft allow add ons to Edge and it works with all security stuff then we will remain with IE.

Well did all my backups, created the recovery disk and decided to do a full re-format. The recovery disk did absolutely bugger all so I had to go back via Windows 7 and I just re-upgraded to W10 via the assisted technology route.

I'm liking the SSD alongside the new PSU. If I'm doing "normal" web browsing and usage, my desktop runs virtually silent .

Actually, sitting here listening to it now, i'd say it's not "virtually" - it is silent !

Not sure how it is now if they have repaired it but I changed to Del Ad as it was impossible to work with Adblock any more .
Haven't used ABP in years since I discovered uBlock. ABP is just the default option for many people who assume it's the only option.

For future reference, the Media Creation Tool is the correct download to make a W10 Installation DVD (via ISO download) or to make a W10 Installation USB Flash Drive

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/windows_10.html (see screenshots)
or
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...load/windows10

The DVD or USB Flash will clean install W10 when booted, or give access to Repair options.
Or if setup.exe is run from within Windows, a Repair Install is performed.

=-=-=-=

Recovery Disk isn't really a thing with W10

Recovery Drive is a feature, but it has some disadvantages and my preference is always to use the Media Creation Tool method.

I did use the media creation deeley. Just force of habit to refer to it as a 'recovery disk' I suppose.

I use Firefox, but see no ads or have any issues. Perhaps ABP is conflicting with other addons?

Admittedly, I only use my laptop a couple of times a week - I mainly use my desktop which is running Windows 7 - perhaps if I used it more I'd see issues....

The last batch initially knocked off my WiFi access. Had to restart to allow it to finish up the rest of the update and its fine again now.

Note the tool fails to tell you it will totally wipe your USB Drive regardless of whether there would be enough space to place the installation

This came as a bit of a surprise:

Specifically, he said Redmond cut the amount of time given for compatibility testing with the new OS from two months to six days. As a result Windows 10 users are being warned by the operating system to just use Microsoft apps, or applications from Redmond's store – where the software giant can take a cut of any sales.

^ That might explain why some people find some third party apps to be on the buggy side but it doesn't appear to be the developer's fault.

Another vote for uBlock here. I use Chrome with uBlock and Ghostery, and the built in Windows Defender and they all work perfectly.
Ghostery blocks things like videos and user comments on many sites, but you can click on the icon and choose which things to allow for that site and it remembers it.

How long is the anniversary update supposed to take to install?

I have a laptop, literally 3 days old, it has been stuck on 8% for the past 4 hours...

I love it how some of you have 'never had an issue with Windows 10 ever'

There is literally NOTHING installed on this brand new laptop of mine, so why is it borked?

Windows 10 updates take a lifetime, or the lifetime of the hardware. Whichever is the later.
