I agree with you 100%, for years people have changed stuff on windows, the colour, the look using software like Windows blinds, changing defaults, going by Faust books, should people stick with paint, notebook, media player, internet Exploder/Edge or any other software Ms includes?
3rd party Start menus became popular because MS made such a mess of windows 8, the start screen was awful, classic shell made windows 8 usable again, well for me anyway, still not that fond of windows 8, but it is a bit more efficient than windows 7.
I know a few people who have Windows 10 and asked me about getting the old style menu back, yes there are ways in Windows 10 that give you a different menu of sorts, but it is not old style, so I install classic shell for them and tell them about start is back, which I think is better.
