Up and running without a hitch, just needs activating.

After messing around with this all day I still haven't got it installed.

Clicking the windows icon in taskbar says about Validating. I downloaded the media creation tool it won't open, it tells me to restart my computer and gives the same error when I do.

I am now downloading the ISO from Dreamspark but its sloowwwww. I don't think its meant to happen to be honest.

I wonder have many others had these issues?

I've just logged on and although I have a 5.71 GB file in the $Windows.BT folder, I'm not being prompted to upgrade.

Wouldn't the ISO just perform a clean install though, you'd need an activation key I assume?

I'm getting two 'Failed' errors in Windows Update though for "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home" - does this mean there was an issue with my download?

I've tried that now, but its still greyed out.

Have you looked under settings>system>apps and features>manage optional features
Maybe you are missing English GB speech recognition and English GB text to speech for Cortana

Yes, it will. I expect you will end up with IE 11 plus Edge?

Best to avoid then.

That is correct. Mandatory automatic updates. Though MS have released a tool to allow you to hide specific updates, e.g., driver ones. I assume this may only be temporarily though?

No apparently it is tied to email address so if you have reserved it will activate.

Any time I check for updates I get another failed. I can only assume my download is also fecked.

Will be interesting to see if all goes smoothly for them,

Ditto. Neither on 8.1 laptop nor 7 desktop. But was planning to wait a while on laptop anyway and longer on desktop (my primary box).

Having activation issues, the key I have currently is the one for the media center add-on for 8.1, do I need to change the product key to the original Windows 8?

Many thanks for that info, appreciated. Unfortunately it's a no-go for me then.

I still am receiving the "Ok notify me when ready" link on the Get Windows Icon but I reserved it months ago, so why am I still waiting?

The activation servers are in slow mode, so don't worry.
As long as you upgraded from a valid 7 or 8.1 license and used your MS account you will be ok.
May be a while, so just wait and it will do it, no need to keep trying.

As it probably been said before, Microsoft are rolling out Windows 10 in batches. I so it isn't overloaded by people, and crashes.

Seems to be taking a while to get to me, the windows icon has disappeared and I can only reserve it which I already have.

Well I've updated and everything works fine, except my WiFi dongle. It will find some networks, but not mine. Either on 2.4GHz or 5GHz (named differently on my Home Hub 5). Any ideas? It's picking up distant networks, but not my own (which are strong all over the house).

So I have to install W10 over W8.1.1, activate it, then I can do a clean install by going to "Reset This PC"?

There's no option to clean install after downloading the ISO apparently as it won't recognise your product key that way.

I'm now downloading using the Media Creation tool, I'm guessing its okay to do it this way?

There was actually an "Upgrade this PC" option.

Thanks man, is there an option to create a recovery disc usb too

I'm creating a bootable USB to install it from, but according to PCAdvisor.co.uk, you cannot clean install just by creating a ISO and rebooting and running start-up that way, you HAVE to upgrade first, then let it activate, then you can do a clean install by wiping the PC.

It took less than 3 minutes for me to download the files required to make a bootable USB, and it's at 60% writing to the USB stick.

I imagined it would go a lot slower at downloading the files as millions worldwide are probably trying to do the same.
