Couldn't you just connect it to the PC with a USB lead? Would have cost you all of £1.
Sorry I don't understand, my Sony was always connected with a USB Cable when using old Tower and XP.
I connected same Sony using same USB to my new Tower and 8.1 and was told not compatible as driver was Ancient. Like me I suppose, I have loaded new Disc for my Nikon into 8.1 system and find it doesn't put Pic's into my Docs like Sony and XP did and it makes it harder to recover them to attache to Emails, which is my only reason to want to put Pic's on computer.
I was very apprehensive about posting on this Forum as I knew I would be baffled by Abbreviations and the like ,being 78 ,I don't understand the jargon, and what is a Memory Stick?,can it be reused? do you have to download or wipe it clean. My head is spinning. Wish I'd never seen 8.1 and its pre-loaded rubbish(Apps).

I'm in that boat, I've been using Windows since 3.1 but I think they seem to have lost their way. I am due a computer upgrade, I'll give 10 a chance but if its shite I'm off to Apple
And install Boot Camp so you can run Windows - i'd put money on it!

why would any one want to do that? If I had a Mac, no way would I stick windows on it.

Why do you always assume that everyone has the same usage scenario as you? Loads of people run Windows on Mac either via Bootcamp or a VM. Developers who write cross-platform applications for starters.

so they can run software on windows? such as software that only works on windows? such as business applications?

I use windows more then osx on my MacBook as I prefer windows to osx. I also run osx on my pcs at times, plus a number of versions of windows and 2 or 3 versions of linux

one of the best things about my mac is being able to run windows via either bootcamp or paralells

It's extremely handy IMHO. Not all software have Mac versions.

Then get a machine that runs windows, or is this a look at me thing I have a Mac?

if I ever got a Mac, I would not put anything of MS on it, have enough of MS on my PC.,

That means you need two machines where one will do. Why would you want to own or worse carry around more machines than you need?

I've never understood that attitude. I use whatever I deem to be the best (or good enough) tool for the job at hand given financial constraints. I couldn't care less if it's Microsoft, Google, open source or whatever. But each to their own.

Why would you not put anything MS on it? I imagine the vast majority of mac users use MS software of some sort regularly. Many people have to work with multiple platforms at different times for a whole host of reasons.

A Mac can officially run windows too and Apple provide all the official signed Windows drivers for their kit. Getting a PC to run OS X, while possible, isn't so straightforward and certainly not officially supported or legit.

Then get a machine that runs windows,
most macs from the last few years run windows. this has been the case since they used intel as main CPU

that's your personal choice. when you come to wanting to use software thats available on windows but not osx or linux then your personal choice may limit what you can do with your computer. mine doesn't

Um, you could be right in that way.

i would not stick anything MS on a Mac, a friend of mine have 6 macs and she said there is no way anything MS is going on them, A mate of mine does have Office on his Mac air

you mean can run windows. Yes I know this.

i have a tower computer that runs windows,l so I would use that for anything windows based. I do use Linux, it is dual booted on this machine.
If I go for a MAc it will be a Mac Mini, It can then sit under my monitor.

yet you said "Then get a machine that runs windows," - so I have a MacBook that runs windows. it also runs osx, and I could run Linux and some other OS's on it too. similarly other people have done the same on their macs

I know, i know someone who done it, well got windows on it, the problem is now he got less room for data and software as the drive is only a 120GB SSd.

if you get an intel one you can also run windows and Linux too, either via bootcamp or VM
It will be a Intel one (yuk), but it will be running Osx and that is it. I am not even sure if I will get one yet, I want a decent camcorder first. the only reason I was thinking of a MAc is for final cut as I have seen it being use on a friends Mac and it zooms along even on a older imac.
i use Vegas, which I love, but final cut seems better.

This thread is about Windows 10, not Macs. We already have a thread about running Windows on a Mac.

Don't be taken off topic by noise747 posts. I find life easier to ignore them.

I'm a Mac user and I'm really excited about Windows 10, but I'll be installing it on my Gaming PC once it's stabilised a bit. I'd hate to upgrade and not be able to play BF4, BF Hardline or GTA V because of some compatibility issue or driver issue, for example.

How do I reserve a copy? I've got two computers with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
