Not upgraded yet but I gather that Edge only arrived relatively late in the Insider builds, so I'm guessing it's currently far from where they want it to be. It seems a bit like Opera 15 when they decided to start again from scratch using WebKit/Blink engine. Many features were missing compared to previous Opera.
Edge may or may not be blazingly fast but usability matters, as you've discovered! If it takes you more steps to navigate to where you want to go then raw speed counts for nowt.
