Not upgraded yet but I gather that Edge only arrived relatively late in the Insider builds, so I'm guessing it's currently far from where they want it to be. It seems a bit like Opera 15 when they decided to start again from scratch using WebKit/Blink engine. Many features were missing compared to previous Opera.

Edge may or may not be blazingly fast but usability matters, as you've discovered! If it takes you more steps to navigate to where you want to go then raw speed counts for nowt.

Couldn't you customise it, though? I did with mine.

Just right-click on a tile and select a size. Some titles have small or medium as a choice. The rest have small, medium, large or wide. You can move tiles around as well.

You can change the desktop colour theme and the like under Personalisation in Settings.

Can you change the taskbar colour from black?

Now and again I also rip music to blank CDs so my sister can play in her car. Will i also still be able do do this after the upgrade.

Edge seems like an early beta to me, can't import settings & can't import any bookmarks as it will only import from ie11 which I never used

Turn off 'Automatically pick an accent colour from my background'
Turn on 'Show colour on taskbar, Start menu and Action Center'
Click on a tile of your preferred colour in the colour palette

So I will get the upgrade but I don't mind waiting. I was not going to download for a few weeks anyway if I had got it on the day.

I've not upgraded yet either. Will wait a while. There's also a big patch due early this month apparently.

updated mine earlier today using the website as kept getting failed attempts through windows update. All went very smoothly and so far everything seems to be working fine.

The tablet version of IE was far better for touch use. Edge appears to be a desktop UI only and is very fiddle to use in touch mode on a tablet.

One issue I've started to get is when turning the tablet on from sleep it is no longer asking for a pin on the lock screen. You swipe up the picture and it goes straight to the desktop.

I think you are a little bit off topic here, the poster is right in being patient as that's what manufacturers are suggesting for the smoothest experience which is what would be best if they are concerned about video driver issues which is why the makers of pc or laptop are suggesting this route.

Maybe there just wondering if there are other peeps out there with the same concern as to why they haven't got it yet.

Then all they have to do is make it something that people want to use rather than inventing a heap of junk and then forcing it on people and not listen to them.

Nope.

All microsoft seem to want to do is force more things on us that mean we have to pay money on a regular basis.

No one complained when they created Windows because it was an improvement on the OS and helped us use computers better.

But now they are not improving the OS they are adding more and more junk to it, that is for them and not for us.

The only reason i'm not doing it that way is because it seems a bit complicated.

I upgraded and everything seems to be okay apart from the display - I've got bars constantly flickering across the screen. I took a video to show what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzqV0_OKBwM

When I go into device manager, my display adapter is listed as AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series. The driver software is up to date with the latest version. However, if I do an uninstall or I disable it, it seems to temporarily fix the issue of the flickering bars for a few hours at least. Any ideas on a longer term solution?

It looks complicated, but it's simple. If you're willing (not a problem if you aren't as caution can be the best option for some), here's a step-by-step guide:

1. click on 'Download the tool' (at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...d=ms_wol_win10)

2. click on 'Software download page'.

This will take you to the download page: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/windows10

3. scroll down to two purple boxes
4. click on either 'Download Tool Now (32-bit version)' or 'Download Tool Now (64-bit version)'

If you're not sure which system you have, then go Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System
You should see the system profile like this one here, which appears in W7, W8 and W8.1. Look at the yellow highlight bit to see which system you have: 32-bit or 64-bit.

5. once noted, go back to the download page and click on the box you want
6. once it's downloaded, double click on the downloaded file

7. a purple screen pops up and it says something like 'What do you want to do?'

On mine, the only option was something like 'Upgrade the PC now'. If there's more than one choice on yours, select 'Upgrade the PC now'.

8. click 'Next'

9. next screen offers three options: a) keep personal files and apps, b) keep personal files only, and c) nothing

I opted for a) as I wanted to keep everything as it was.

10. click 'Next'. It should tell you that it'll start upgrading now.

The installation can take up to two hours. Mine took an hour and fifteen minutes. My husband's took two hours. I think mine was rebooted three times during the installation.

11. once installed, it's ready to use. That's it.
