I just downloaded it again onto a USB drive to do a clean instal, it said I should have my key ready, that's not needed is it as it's registered at MS.
Just 'Skip' when it asks for a key. If you have previously done the upgrade it should activate afterwards.

Can I access my OneDrive from a different account without changing my main account that my PC is logged into on booting? If you understand what I mean.

For reasons unknown to myself even, my OneDrive with all my pictures is linked to another account

Right click the OneDrive icon in taskbar in notification area, choose settings and then unlink. Then you can select a MS account to use with OneDrive.

Went to PC World at the weekend to try out W10 for the first time (incidentally that's when I heard Cilla Black died!). The general consensus in my house so far is not to bother upgrading to Windows 10 for at least 3 months. My parents' laptops will be staying on W7 and dad's Surface will keep running 8.1 for a while. Mum doesn't want Windows 10 on her laptop after all the problems with it she's been reading about and dad just laughs about all the W10 problems

I was rather amused by the following article....

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...ow-repeat.html

.... but it begs the question, will W10 find pictures in other folders such as My Documents? Not that I've got anything like that poor bloke, of course!
I don't think so. Apparently it was a slideshow on a tile rather than the whole screen (I assume that's like a large rolling thumbnail)?

If it was a slideshow on a title then how did the wife find it? Was she using the computer? I only hope that guy uses private browsing or the wife might end up filing divorce claims

'Not a JFK thing '

Likely just a dumb 'internet mob' thing? Sad news though.

Nope, it's just a coincidence that I looked up Sky News when I was trying out the new Microsoft Edge browser and that was breaking news. I also looked at my university website and a couple of other random sites.

Do you mean it actually logs on so that you can use the the PC? - (Change your log in preference to require password)
Or, that you just get one account to sign into? (bottom left, I think, all your accounts)
Windows 10:Person B uses computer then shuts down. Person A starts the computer and is automatically logged into Person B's account.

Windows 7: Person B uses computer then shuts down. Person A starts the computer and has to select their account in order to log in.

I can see how useful it is if there is only 1 user or 1 account on a PC, but it's rubbish with more than that.

Other person doesn't have a password just due to ease of use. If they need a password to sort out the log in system, i'm sticking with 7.

Right-click Start, Command Prompt (Admin) and type netplwiz

Our signature allows MS to turn it all back on, and more, via them compulsory updates.
Not to the extent you've signed away all of your rights.

You do agree to the terms of the software to USE the software, but frankly if it ever got to a court, chances are the court would insist there always be a way to turn it off. True, MS could infinitely play games with updates turning it back on, and make you keep turning it off again, but reasonably they're always going to have to at least provide a way to turn it off.

The one that has me concerned is the current version of activation, if only because they've polled your hardware in some unspecified sense even before any of this, matched it in many cases to a BIOS key (if you have one) and an MS account (admittedly optional if you insisted on a local login), and then placed it in a central database (IP and geo tagged to be sure). It's unspecific in many ways, sure, but there's no opting out of any of that (other than the MS account).

One of my virtual machines BSOD'ed recently and stayed on the error page instead of restarting automatically.

VMware player wouldn't shut it down and locked it as "In Use" (on the error page). Rebooting my Host didn't help.

I Googled for a while but couldn't solve it.

Gave up and got distracted by W10 upgrade issues. So now the problem (and virtual machine) no longer exist

Try W10 on a PC before upgrading the Surface, or better still try a W10 tablet in a store, because IMHO Windows 10 sucks as a tablet OS.
The distinction between the Metro tablet UI and the desktop UK for use with the keyboard and trackpad is almost gone, a lot of the swipe gestures are gone or don't do what they used to, the tablet finger-friendly version of IE has gone and Edge has navigation controls that are really fiddly to use with fingers and the swipe from left to go back to the previous page has gone. This gesture is in Chrome which I use, but again it still has small fiddly navigation buttons.

I am very happy with W10 on my PC but I will probably restore my tablet back to 8.1. Some people may prefer it, but for tablet use I think W10 is a step back.

Best to reappraise in 11 months time, though after month 12 Microsoft can add/change anything they want on your PC OS.

That is the OTT part of the free upgrade.
