So check your AV website to see what is says about Windows 10 compatibility. Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 requires the patched version. I downloaded the 2016 version instead from the U.S. website on advice of the Kaspersky forum.”

When I did the upgrade I noticed my Kaspersky IS 2015 wasn't running. Windows 10 had not only stopped it running but had deleted the exe file so it couldn't be run up manually! Very nice.

Fortunately a swift download of the latest version sorted that little issue out. Not had any problems so far touch wood (he says tapping his head... )

As above, the old Notepad is still there in Windows 8. You only had to type 'notepad' at the Start menu to find that out.

IE is only in the business versions and the pro version.

They want to get rid of IE.....Once edge is fully finished, it could be a really good browser.
To be fair you don't need to see it if you don't want to.

P.S. I also have a Windows phone and I have the same thoughts with it.

I completely agree. It's a privacy issue. Which is why when I installed Windows 10 I answered 'No' to almost every question asking if I wanted to set this/that up, and I discarded almost all the new features that were offered. With any new OS you're offered a variety of extras, and I simply decline. Works like a dream.

One thing I'm particularly pleased with is how Windows 10 handles switchable graphics. I have a Pavilion dv7 with two graphics cards; one Intel, the other AMD. I did have it configured so that on battery power it used one and plugged in it used the other. The screen would switch off then on several times when switching between cards and it sometimes became unstable. Since installing Windows 10, which uses DirectX 12, the 'switch' is made seamlessly and based on which program(s) I'm using, so as soon as I start using Photoshop or Premiere Pro the AMD graphics take over the heavy lifting. At first I thought it wasn't switching at all but now I know that it's doing it much better than it ever did.

Install original working driver from Asus http://www.asus.com/uk/support/

Windows 10 will probably insist on re-installing the faulty driver next time it checks.

Setting yourself as Metered or using the Hide Updates Tool can prevent this.

I might get a straight forward answer here..

I don't know whether my acer Iconia 10's screwed or not after I rebboted it to remove windows 10 but all I'm getting is the lock screen nd the device turning itself off after so long. Is this normal (Try getting a straight forward answer on the FAQ pages of the Windws website). Is this normal and [art f the process or is my tablet knackered as I can't find it on youtube.

Does anyone have any idea how to change the fonts on title bars, icons, palette titles and so on?
In Windows 7 I created my own theme but you dont seem to be able to do this, or I cant work out how to.
The default font is just bloody dreadful.

What do you mean you 'rebooted' it? I don't think that's what you mean. How did you try to remove Windows 10?

Hopefully you created recovery media (a USB stick) before you installed Windows 10 so you can use that.

Settings>Personalization>Themes , or right click on desktop and Personalize >Themes.

It can't be done any more, I think. This is all you get now
Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display
or
Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Advanced Sizing of Text

You're right. Change the size, or make it bold, ok. Change the font, no.

Isnt Windows 10 supposed to be an advance on Windows 98,XP, 7? This is a real step back. The look is really crap, and you cannot change it.

Finally someone agrees with me. I posted a while back that it looks awful and everyone said this is the new look for 2015.

I've worked this out...for some reason the notification area icon only appears when you open Windows Defender.

For the not too risk averse, I'm sure there's a registry hack to change the system font. That's how I did it in W7. The W7 hack may even still work in W10.

I've just discovered a very cool registry hack to activate a dark theme for Settings etc. Not sure why this isn't in the UI.

Right click on the start button and control panel, along with many other useful things are right there.

There are other ways, but that is by far the simplest.

Or, just hit windows key and start typing 'Control Panel'. It comes up at the top of the search before you can complete it.
They should try this first when unable to find something, it's generally better than venting on a forum....

Yes, that is the Microsoft way since we got W8. I recall following their instruction to find something, again involving the search box.

Flipping stupid, and more infuriating because I well know they simply want you trained in 'Bing' as the norm for everything.

Funnily enough, typing gives a sort of DOS box feel !
