... shows that Mark Gattis is much better writing this stuff than Russell T Davies
Certainly had Gattis's style, yet personally I found myself becoming disinterested in the episode. Just personal taste, of course, I much prefer Davies's style of his characters ... and his humour. I can often find Gattis's style becomes a little flat after a while. :yawn:Especially liked the affect of the snow being becoming all swirly filling in the void as the TARDIS dematerialised at the end of the episode. Neat attention to detail, Mr Producers !

Is that Time War the same thing that destroyed the Time Lords, I wonder?

Thought it was excellent and strongly written and very intelligent. Great to see the story hold the program together rather than just the effects or monsters.
Not sure those living in Cardiff will be too impressed though! Loved the trailer for next week and BBC24 showing an "Alien Emergency Helpline" telephone number! |

Ok I have a vague recollection of The Doctor as a child. Was he always such a nutter? CE plays him like he is an escapee from a lunatic asylum. One moment he is fine, the next he's smiling and laughing like a right nutter. I fail to see the joke.

That was just great. Spooky, funny, exciting, and a stronger story than the introductory episodes. The series has really hit its stride now.

This episode should lose it another big chunk of viewers. It wouldn't have held the kiddies attention for very long.

I thought it was excellent, especially when the servant opens the bridge.
Excellent performance from Simon Callow too. |

Hated last weeks, but I had nothing else to do so decided to watch again this week.
Am I glad I did! A much better episode this week, with more than a little "hairs on the back of your neck tingling" and very few of the stupid gags from the previous weeks' episodes. Top marks for this one, and next week's looks like it will be good, too. |

Yes, another excellent episode tonight. Very different from the previous two which just goes to prove how flexible the format is.

I've said this before but I think the new show really suffers from the lack of multi-episode stories and cliffhangers. Having said that, seeing Rose's wonder at everything is still fantastic. Next week looks exciting. |

Great episode this week, my favourite so far. And another mention of the 'Bad Wolf'. This is scrawled across the TARDIS is next week's episode, and was mentioned by the Moxx in last week's. I wonder what it means.

Stunning episode. Well written, directed and executed by all involved...especially Simon Callow and Eve Myles who played Gwyneth.
Please have Euros Lyn back to direct more episodes for season two. More references to the Time War...methinks RTD is developing this as a story arc for the rest of the series....any theories on where you think he might be taking this? Is anyone organising a poll for this episode or how do we go about asking for one? |
