I've asked for loads of forums before.
If I myself ask again, I risk pushing my luck.
So i might not be the best person to ask.

As soon as somebody else starts a thread asking for a Doctor Who in the title, I'll be striaght in there giving my support.

Somebody can just start a thread asking for one so the mods can see it,..and all of us pile in voicing our support. A bit like a petition.

This thread is so long and winding that I don't even remember reading it or not.
Something tells me that I do remember you mentioning it, but it must have got lost in the avalanche of posts.
Did i comment on it before?..I don't even remember if i did or not.

So well done to you as well.

So if he did go somewhere for a while, do you think he might have got up to something other than appearing in Clive's photos, like for example do you think he might have gone somewhere relevant to the story arc?

Wait a minute,..this is possible.
Apparently one of the episodes is supposed to be a
Spoiler
Back to The Future style story.

So in Father's Day, The Doctor, in that brief time period we experienced in episode 1 when he leaves Rose for a few seconds before coming back to ask her again,
Spoiler
might have actually gone back in time to the time in "Father's Day", and discovered there that he needs Rose. So in the episode "Father's Day, we may see The Doctor and Rose go back and actually see The Doctor who went back before...So Chris Eccelston sees Chris Eccleston doing what he had done previously before he picked up Rose....so it would be very much like "Back To The Future".

Sounds like Mark Gattis is going to be on PM on Radio 4 this afternoon. Programme started at 5PM.

Eddie Mair introduced the programme saying 'And I'll be talking to the writer of this week's scary episode of Doctor Who'.

Okay, I'll post right away to add my support.

I suggest that everyone else here who would like a Doctor Who forum also add their voice to the request thread.

Found it. When IS the search facility coming back?

Here we are. It was in the 'Doctor Who quits' thread, posts 277-78...

I suspect not. Had it not been for Christopher Eccleston's departure I wouldn't have even thought about it, but with his leaving it did tie up a loose end. That said, I wouldn't rule anything out.

Agreed. As I've stated many times, I think all bets are off when it comes to this new series.

I don't think RTD would dismiss anything from the original series or continuing adventures as such - but a lot depends on how much of that he wishes to introduce to the new viewers.

For example, he may wish to neglect to mention in the new series that the Doctor has a limted number of regenerations. Just because it isn't mentioned, doesn't mean it isn't valid and isn't part of the Doctor's history.

I imagine that, given the fact that a decision for a second series depended on the reception the public gave to the first, the first series should be fairly 'self-contained' in so much that we introduce the very basic concepts regarding the Whoniverse, have a series of thrilling and spectacular adventures, and an ending that looks definite on first sight, but has just enough of a possibility that maybe the Doctor survived at the end, to leave room for a second series.

That way, if it's not recommisioned for a second series, it's a neat, tidy series of adventures. But if it is, the second series can bring in more of the original 'canon'.

Of course - since a second series was commissioned as soon as the overnighters were in on the Sunday morning following episode one, I'll guarantee some furious tweaking is going on to the finished episodes by RTD.
Mark.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I heard in the news today (BBC news story here ) that the BBC had received over 90 complaints about the third episode being too frightening for younger children and giving them nightmares.

My first thoughts were "Yes! not only is the new series better than ever but it's sending children for the relative safety of the back of the sofa too!"

Quite a lot of the old episodes had complaints so I'm sure RTD is delighted that the new series is continuing that tradition

If all fails and no Sci-fi forum is created here then Logopolis Metropolis is a great place to discuss present and past Doctor Who and all other sci-fi. Take a look .

I think on saturday we need the series thread

for general comments on the show
and
a *bad wolf* thread
to continue our thoughts/ideas
on the running theme
that is being constantly baffling us lol!!

I've got a Bad Wolf thread on my site with Den's thoughts on the matter just waiting for people to reply...

Just seen a program on RTD on BBC4 and it had a few very brief "behind the scenes " shots of future episodes, the tardis was shown twice and each time it was without the "bad wolf" tag. Of course it could be the writing was on the other side of the TARDIS.

It will be interesting to see if/how the doctor reacts to the "Bad wolf" graffiti when he first sees it. It could alter the general consensus about what it all means

I'm new to this, so let's try a spoiler effect.

Spoiler
The graffiti falls off the next time it dematerialises in a neat CGI effect.

If we had a "bad wolf" thread from the beginning it would be pretty long by now and (personally) I hate long threads they tend to be really cleeky(?) and not very inviting for people who want to make a point but cant be bothered reading 30 pages of posts.

At the moment we have a system where we start again each week with a thread of zero posts. I like that.

Yep - I'd heard this, and it hasn't changed my mind. As the Black Guardian said, this recurring theme of bad wolf wouldn't be in there for nothing.

Although someone mentioned somethiing earlier abour Rose's father - it's giving me one of those slight mental 'itches'. I'm going to have to sleep on it.
Mark.

Perhaps Rose's father is the master.....

OMG - I posted this in jest, but it could make sense:

Rose's father was the master, but was killed. He passed on his hatred of the doctor, but it was fuzzy - that's why she had to look him up.

ARGH - something else to analyse!!!!!!!!

That's why I said the "Bad Wolf" myth had to start next week.
It has to be identified as "Bad Wolf" before the graffiti is removed, and before the Doctor moves on to another adventure.
(I didn't originally know that it fell off during it's next dematerialisation though)

"Bad Wolf" must be identified, and then start to be spread by word of mouth next episode, for it to become a term used in the future by alien races.

Identified either by humans themselves, or the Slitheen, or any other possible race that crops up in the next episode.

The wolf is quite often seen as "bad"
Three little pigs & the Big Bad Wolf (who cam to a sticky end, but not after some bloodshed).

Little Red Riding Hood (who died in the original version after being tricked by Grandma/Wolf).

The Wolf in sheep's clothing (my bet for the TARDIS)

Lycanthropes.

The Wolves of Fenric (another one of my hobby-horses).

They have long had associations with darkness (Dracula: the children of the night).
But there are positive images:
The wolf who raised Romulus & Remus.

The wolf pack who raised Mowgli in The Juingle Book

The Lone Wolf (who is often seen as a force for good).
The Doctor has always been a Lone Wolf, but events seem to be conspiring to depict him and/or the TARDIS as Bad Wolf.

I can't see the graffito per se being the origin of the Bad Wolf Scenario (since it is written in English we have to make the logical jump that the Tagger was a) non human b) English speaking & c) well versed in Earth lore).

However, since it is the most overt mention, it must have an impact on the storyline that the other mentions did not.

Can't wait for the next episode/thread/new set of theories.
