Perhaps the 'kids' would appreciate it more if they weren't subject to two morons shouting "bogey" all the time...

I don't think anyones posted this yet, so...
The Average viewing figures were: -

Doctor Who: Unquiet Dead 8.339m (36.66% audience share)
Ant & Dec: 7.136m (32.29% audience share).

Still loving every minute of the new Doctor Who

Another set of fantastic viewing figures for the show. By comparison, Strictly Dance Fever with Graham Norton only pulled in 4.9 million, so nice to see another 3.4 million turned over once he'd stopped mincing about, to watch the good Doctor do battle

It's not just a good set of results, but the shows pulling in figures usually reserved for the BBC's top Drama's. It's a great result!

Gosh, at this rate it'll be giving Eastenders a run for it's money!

Who'd have thunk it.

Similar audience share (36.0% for Dr Who last week, 30.9% for Ant & Dec), higher in absolute terms (7.3 million vs. 6.0 million last week).

Very good ratings...

Apparently the Doctor seems to be doing alright in Canada as well.

Here is the link to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's - Doctor Who mini-site. Some different downloads on there including some good trailers and they seem to like the fact they beat the USA to premier the show!

Sorry if this link has been added before...

Great to hear that The Unquiet Dead got the ratings it deserved.....Mark Gatiss please write another for the next series!

I notice I am not alone in wondering about all these references to the "Big Bad Wolf" which seem to be mentioned (as in a pattern) in each episode as does the destruction of Gallifrey/Time War.

Where is RTD leading us with this...is the Doctor a wolf in sheeps clothing or is it a warning of some kind?

I have watched Dr-Who from the first episode, I’m not bothered about it taking ratings from A & D, as I have never watched the show. What has Dr-Who done for me? I’m constantly around children age 6 to 12 who love the show; we talk for hours about previous episodes, and older Dr Who series. Dr-Who has brought back family viewing, one of my nieces asked me who is Charles Dickens, normally when I try to talk about historical events I’m fobbed of as an oldie, I hope the series runs for a long time.

Yesterdays, the BBC did it again another fantastic episode

Do you mean "An Unearthly Child" or "Rose"?

This Big Bad Wolf thing is confusing. I'm pretty sure that the Doctor is THE Doctor - last week when the Tree lady scanned him her 'tricroder' tpe thing showed nine different DNA strands suggesting the nine incarnations of the Doctor.

As long as Crewman Daniels from Enterprise's 'time war' doesn't show up I'll be happy.

Hmm - it was rumoured that it would but as far as I could see it didn't. The drawing of the device on the official site showed 9 DNA strands but I don't think that made it to the final programme.

A pattern does seem to be emerging so I wonder how more references there are going to be in forthcoming episodes to the Big Bad Wolf?

Are the aliens that feature in the next two episodes part of the Time War which spilled out across the universe affecting other species like the Gelth?

I'll confess that I wait to watch Dr Who until my hubby gets in from work so avoid all connected threads until after I've seen it, hence the delay for a couple of hours. I'm not about next weekend but Kris might be faster with them.

And how we appreciate them..always good to see as well as hear what people think of the individual episodes week on week so the polls add to part of the fun.

What do you think of it so far then?

I have always liked the Dr Who theme tune and the various remixes..but was very slightly 'disappointed' with the new series mix.. since it does away with the "chorus" bit and is very reminiscent of the 1st Dr Who tune.. however, having just listened to the new theme a few times I am really impressed...

It not only fits the title sequence, but has a great build up that i hadn't noticed before...... drums echo the bass line for the first few bars then 'double up'..... the single bass line "dum de dum" sound starts, then, as the TARDIS goes from the blue stream to the red in titles, goes "dum de de dum " it's all very sutble and all very good.... sorry i know off topic and prob not worded very well, but just some thoughts.”

Has anyone else noticed the subtle difference in the actual series' theme and the one played on the teaser trailers. I think the beginning of the 'dum-de-dum' bit was stated much more boldy in the trailers than in the episodes. The episodes seem to have gone back to the Hartnell version, which in my view is pretty stark. (IMHO, the 1970s Baker version was the best opening title sequence ever: the music and images fitted perfectly.

Also, with regard to the lack of cliff-hangers, I think to an extent the pre-titles sequences make up for them. Last night we definitely had the radiophonic 'scream' in the right place!

Think they have remained faithful to the original version of the theme whilst giving it a more 'modern' feel...first time I heard it all the hairs on my arm stood on end! lol! the title sequence reminds me a bit of Pertwee's last season and Bakers time tunnel. love it!

Notice the background music in The Unquiet Dead wasn't quite as obstrusive as it was in previous episodes.

I'm a big ol' scary cat, always have been (which is why I wait for hubby ). So despite the fact I was the right age for Dr Who in the 80's I didn't watch it. I am however loving this series, CE seem a fantastic actor and the sets, effects and storylines are wonderful to watch.

Think it is great that Who is getting new viewers on board as well as appealing to the diehard fans as well.

Once again, an excellent episode.

At the start, I wasn't quite sure - I don't know why. But 5 minutes in, it was as brilliant as ever. BP's acting really is going from strength to strength and CE fantastic as the Doctor (again!) Simon Callow portrayed Charles Dickens superbly, and you really did empathise with his character, especially the "he dies in a week" bit at the end.

Three out of three so far. The series is getting the ratings it deserves and has livened up the traditionally dire Saturday night TV. Long may it continue!
