Interesting article just posted on DS. RTD knew CE was leaving, so now we can bet the story arc has been plotted to reflect this...

Exciting things to come.

Allegedly! I wonder if there's not a massive face-saving exercise going on here.

Where is RTD leading us with this...is the Doctor a wolf in sheeps clothing or is it a warning of some kind?”

I have missed EVERY reference to the "Big Bad Wolf", I REALLY should pay more attention. I did catch the "What the Shakespear..." and "Eww, what a bleak house" comments last night though.

Think RTD has either a massive surprise in store for us at the end of this run or there is going to be an incredible twist that none of us see coming....

Simon Callow portrayed Charles Dickens superbly, and you really did empathise with his character, especially the "he dies in a week" bit at the end.

Three out of three so far. The series is getting the ratings it deserves and has livened up the traditionally dire Saturday night TV. Long may it continue!”

I agree. I thought I wouldn't like it at first but i'm really enjoying this series.

I wouldn't be surprised if at so point if we hear kids singing or someone humming "who's afraid of the big bad wolf" in a future episode.

I thought that too.. I do like that bass line!!

Looks like the Chris' arm to me, shot from behind his right shoulder but it does look like they moved him past the doorway for that shot, by the postion of the shoulder in relation to the basket on the shelving.

Ahh cool ok, cheers I'm not too hot on english literature! I did wonder when CE was naming all of Dickens novels though if he was going to accidentally name one which he hadn't written yet, but I wouldn't know because i lack the knowledge to get the joke !

Loved the way that Chris acted all geeky towards Charles Dickens.

I took that as a gentle dig towards all us fans.

Including RTD - he's the biggest anorak of the lot!

(And Gatiss is just as bad!)

Does anybody know which network, if any, is going to run Dr Who in the USA? It will be interesting to see how it goes down.

Ah, I did wonder if it was all a scam. What I was thinking was that the story broke just before Casanova started on BBC One and David Tennant was described as the only actor they were talking to. I wondered if it was a clever attempt to hype Dr Who and Casanova in one go. Sadly, I am more inclined to believe that it is for real. I think David Tennant would be fine as The Doctor but it would have been nice to have a bit more CE first.

I read somewhere that US viewers will have to wait for the DVDs as there is no network keen to take it.

Shame really, they obviously don't know what they're missing.

And the episodes were obviously made with a mind to that market, hence the 45-minute length. I guess BBC America will show them at some point.

Perhaps the ratings in the UK and Canada will change their minds.

Are any other countries showing it yet?

America not interested because it was not filmed in high definition.

I know what you mean. The more we are seeing him develop in the role, the more I want him to stick around for another series. Guess we will always have this one series to be thankful for and it has after all given it a fresh dynamic edge that whoever succeeds CE can build on.

I was disappointed by his decision to go so soon but not to the extent where some fans seem only too keen to put the boot in when really we should be focusing on what he has given us..which is a great performance and a series to be proud of again.

And if ever a programme should have been made in HD, this is it!

However, I don't think the BBC are quite ready yet.
