Like pate, which is mainly made of liver. Lambs liver is a gentler taste, and is the best I think.. Ox and pig liver is stronger
It's a bit like kidney, but I doubt if that helps. |

When I was growing up we would have liver at least once a week.......it was a regular meal
But I don't think I've ever had chicken liver.........surely you'd need to kill 10 chickens to get a portion ? It was lamb's liver or pigs liver...........lamb's was nicer It tastes nice, it's lean with no fat It has it's own taste we used to get it for school dinners as well |

I like calves liver, but it's hard to come by now. I don't care for the strong taste of ox liver, so lamb will do me.

Liver tastes lovely, and it's very good for you.
Try some chicken liver pate if you can't face some liver on its own. |

It's an odd taste and texture, it can't really be compared to other cuts. Lots of flavour which is pleasant in small doses I'll happily it every now then.

As others have said, chicken liver tastes like pâté, as liver is the main component.
Other livers tatste differently e.g ox liver (of school dinners fame) tastes strong and dense, and sometimes a little metallic. It's very savoury and delicious though, especially when a gravy is made with it, and served with mashed spuds

I always think that rare steak has a liverish taste to it.
However nicely cooked lambs liver, especially if it has been floured first and then pan fried, so it has some crispness to it, with crispy bacon, and have others have said mash, gravy and greens is a lovely meal. Rich in iron and very cheap to buy. |

I wouldn't say it tastes like pate. I like pate but hate liver.
I also love Foie Gras which I realise is liver but doesn't taste like 'normal' liver. |

I don't mind calf liver once in a while but I have to be in the mood for it. Sometimes nice to have a small piece as part of a mixed grill. |

We had liver and onion casserole once a week as a kids. Hated it. Used to chew it, spit it into our hands then ask to go to the loo and flush it away.
Now....calves liver, drenched in flour, fried with bacon and onions, mash, gravy, peas or green beans...yum yum. |

![]() One of my quick and tasty healthy teas is liver and cauliflower flashed in the pan with chilli and garlic and soy sauce. Beautiful. |

I never have or ever will understand why people ask what something tastes like. Other peoples opinions on what something tastes like is just an opinion and pretty much meaningless.
The only way to find out what something tastes like is to taste it yourself. |

I don't eat red meat, and especially I wouldn't eat liver. I've never had chicken liver, but when I was a child, my mum often used to cook liver and sometimes brain . Liver always tasted funny to me and never really liked it, and it's not particularly healthy anyway.

I like liver - all sorts, but mostly chicken livers
If they are chewy, one hasn't cooked them right. I love them gently fried with onions and chopped tomatoes (and seasoning and herbs/spices of your choice) and served with mushroom rice. Yum. Feeling hungry now
