I am listening to Billy Joel and was wondering if solo people playing piano and singing will ever be as big again, the likes of elton john, stevie wonder and billy

In the jazz world the contemporary singer/pianist Diana Krall, is popular.
But there's so many pianist/singers from decades ago that are still popular, long after their death. I'll give you just two. Nat King Cole was an accomplished jazz pianist as well as a singer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs8wKxezNn8 Of the girls, Blossom Dearie, just listen to her sensitive piano playing when she sings along with this classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzGWuJheJ_4 Both are long gone, but their talent lives on and is still appreciated. |

Two of this year's finest retro piano-ballads:
Tobias Jesso Jr sounds like he's just beamed down from the 1970s. http://www.stereogum.com/1787985/wat...le-haim/video/ Father John Misty does too, though his tongue is firmly in his cheek: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x29...etterman_music |
