Did the Carters bring in a new Era like the Brannings did in 2006? Not really.

With The Ferriererera family and Millers, being axed, Dennis dying and Sharon, Little Mo, Kat and Alfie leaving in 2005-6, It tied up loose ends and that era just ended and a fresh one began with a new family with kids that grew up on screen that became adults.

The Carter kids were seriously needed thinking.

I think DTC believed he was bringing in a new era, but really it's just more of the same except instead of the Brannings we have the Carters shoehorned into every episode/storyline. The Carters are not this amazingly dynamic and interesting family DTC seems to think they are, and they cannot carry the show in the same way the Mitchells or the Watts did in previous eras. Just 18 months in and the Carters are totally burned out.

EastEnders was on its last legs in 2006. Deirdrek Santer came in and picked the show up by developing the Brannings, Fox's, and Shirley, before introducing us to the Mitchell sisters and bringing back the Jacksons//Butchers. The storylines were also fantastic, and as a result the show was riding high once again in 2009/2010. It got completely and utterly destroyed by Kirkwood & Newman. DTC improved things, but only for a while.

They can't carry the show the way the Brannings did either. (I am being serious)

EE needs to clear out all the deadwood (Fatboy, Dean, etc...) and focus on the characters that haven't been developed.

Agreed

I don't mind the actors/tress's they just haven't been able to develop as characters at all.
