Which Soaps do you watch and why?
Am interested in who watches more than one and which they prefer?
If you only watch one why? This forum is being flooded with negativity about the four big soaps at present so I thought we could try and find some positivity

I watch the big 4 soaps as well as the Irish soap, Red Rock.
Emmerdale is consistent in its quality and I feel as though their stories are well researched and delivered believably. Eastenders is more dramatic and has some quality actors. Coronation St is fast becoming a joke and I watch it purely out of habit, same applies to Hollyoaks. Red Rock is probably my favourite, it's quote dark at times and filmed in a more cinematic style, it's slick and for a new soap has really delivered. |

![]() I watch all four. Emmerdale is my favourite being a yorkshire girl and from not far from where it is set and so I can identify with it the most coming from a similar kind of community. Hollyoaks I have watched from the start tho I do sometimes only watch half an episode and If I miss any now I rarely catch up, its good at youth issue led stories (or was). I may be getting a bit old for it now but it has mostly been quite good recently Eastenders, second favourite soap, watched from a child, I like that it is different from the other soaps especially now, its not afraid to take risks and tell long ongoing stories it tries to be realistic in the sense you can identify with what the characters go through. Corrie is habit and the sandwich between ED and EE, what else would I watch corrie is an institution, if it hadn't been for steves storyline I would have stopped watching, It is different to EE and ED as it has a different humour about it. but mostly I just watch to while away a couple of hours in an evening cos I am not a documentry type person |

Emmerdale mainly as I know some people who work on it.
I like it more then Corrie, I do not watch any others. If I miss any episodes I'm not bothered as its easy enough to catch up on here. |

I only watch Emmerdale because I like the majority of characters in it and find that it is fun and entertaining to watch and rarely dips in quality.

Eastenders is the only soap, that I watch regularly. I like Eastenders because it seems more true to life. Also, I like that its set in my home city. Plus, I like most of the characters.
I used to watch Neighbours and Hollyoaks but stopped, years ago. I wouldn't watch Hollyoaks, now, because the storylines seem over the top. |

Is it possible to get it via internet, anyone know? Or is it blocked for people outside of Ireland?

I used to watch all 4 but I've given Hollyoaks up
. Eastenders and corrie were always my favourite no1 and 2 but Emmerdale has replaced corrie there. However I haven't given corrie up and never will. I like them for very different reasons. Eastenders will always be special because it was the first one I started watching. |

Emmerdale is my favourite and my first choice because the quality is consistently at a high level, I like all of the cast like no other soap, IMO it is as someone else pointed well researched and delivered in a convincing way. The setting is beautiful, especially when shot in the summer which adds to my appeal (although I have a soft spot for the Yorkshire county
. Moreover, they readily combine humour, wit and drama very well like no other. While, the style of writing IMO is miles better. As for the rest, I have watched all of the other major soaps at one stage or another. I will watch occasionally if I find something interesting going on. I used to watch three or four soaps at a time, however I cannot do that anymore. I think that is to do with an overall decline in quality in soaps in general, and that IMO the other soaps cannot hold me as long as Emmerdale continuously does. |

If you look in the Red Rock thread on here there are links to watch outside of Ireland that one of the FMs has been kind enough to post. I'm in London and use this links to watch it.
