But who said those "right" things had to start from the start? The release dates were indeed messy, but so far they've done a good job.

Quote:
“Leona's teams have always tried promoting in the UK first then they move on to Europe and if it fails then they're done. They've never tried promoting in the U.S. first and letting the success take off from here. As Albert Einstein once said, "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." This is truly insanity. Instead of trying the repeatedly failed method of the UK, just promote in the U.S.”

But her team is different though? She did promote in US with CWL

LOL If you search Leona Lewis on twitter the first thing to come out is "leona lewis flop" :') People need to get a life...

Anyway, I wish they would cut off the UK promo for now and move on to the US. No point wasting time in the UK now anymore, I doubt John Bishop performance will do wonders at this point.
It definitely has a potentional to become a hit in US, they just need to push really hard, but I think DefJam is aware of that. Plus, if it really is a hit in US, rest of the world usually follows.
If they're not ready for US yet, they should get some time to promote in Germany atleast. They seem to love her here and I think FUMF is exactly the type of song what they like. Just look at Walk by Kwabs, which is very similar to FUMF IMO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW9uj83Vq-0 It didn't work out in UK, but it became a massive hit in Germany and other European countries followed.

^Kwabs is AMAZING. The fact Walk peaked at #71 in UK is beyond ridiculous

I actually feel like the same clould happen to Leona with FUMF. UK isn't everything, she was and still is global artist. Nothing is lost yet, but they have to try atleast. But I believe they will

On the other hand, I'm starting to think ALS could work as the next single in UK. They seem to like this kind of alternative dance stuff lately. It's incredibely catchy and it's suitable more for younger audience, so those Capital/Radio 1/Heart morons would finally jump on board.

Btw guys, another famous streaming service is Deezer (I think streams from it count towards charts as well). You can make a free account and get 2h of streaming for free per month. http://www.deezer.com/

Oh wow thanks for the Kwabs info! I've been following him for over a year now and I didn't realise he was smashing in Europe. 'Wrong or Right' should've been a big hit for him in the UK. But anyway, getting back onto Leona, I do think she should definitely do a promo tour around Austria, Switzerland and Germany. 'Run' was a monster hit in all three of those countries and they were the few international countries that recognised Glassheart.

These reports are so sad. What happened to FUMF is so unfair. I blame the sudden early release for this disaster. FUMF is a better single than I got you 1, Collide, Trouble and OMS and it should've done better.
Dont take Burke's fans seriously. I love Alexandra but the truth is that she doesnt even has a label behind her anymore. She propably wont make music ever again so I can understand why they are bitter

It's the FUMF acoustic live video they shot a little while ago I believe - unless they share all the videos they shot (I think they did like 3-4 songs?).

I hate that word 'flop'... I mean seriously how sad can you get. Being that obsessed with sales figures and the charts is unhealthy and just shameful
I mean I think it would be great for her to have success to the extent she has had previously but I think people need to stop caring so much, it's not important.

Example: Lana Del Rey doesn't have significant sales in singles ( her albums do well and she is the most streamed artist I know) but even if a song doesn't do well commercially ( shades of cool, for example) it isn't seen as a flop... It's just her and her music and hats because everybody knows she doesn't care about success. She could not be doing well at all and still continue to make music because it's her passion

Leona doesn't care much about success. She isn't Rihanna or miles cyrus. If she cared about success she would just have sold out

Now there is a way she can be successful, she needs to feature on a massive track with the likes of Kanye or Bruno Mars.. Or Beyoncé even and go on from that and whilst I would love this to happen I don't think she cares much and wants to produce her own sound and I am ok with that

A Ryan Tedder ft. Leona track would be brilliant too

Success would be nice but it's not the end of the world if she isn't shifting 1000,000's, 100,000's or even 1000's of copies ( which she is definitely shifting anyway so no point in getting our knickers in a twist)

The way for more success is a Usa hit.Leona does care about success.

Ahh! I thought it was, but someone Twitter had wrote 'please be IGY' so I was unsure! Despite the single not charting well, it's still too early to release or announce a new single isn't it?

For DS it can't go any quicker but yes I think it's far too early Island still has the official impact date as June 28th + performances in US. Don't think it will be anytime soon

I really dont think this impact date is going to make much of a difference, tbh. If the impact date was going to have a big effect, Island would not have moved the single forward 3 weeks before it. I think it's time people started to realise that.

I totally get the "Island want longevity" argument. That's fair. But 1 week in the top 10 selling 50K+ then falling down the charts selling say 20K in the next, 10K in the third then falling off the chart is much better than selling less than 10K a week for 8 weeks, hovering about the 40-60 position.

I think we'll get the second single within the next month, then it'll be released in August, and I suspect they'll go much harder with promo over here. However, I do think the US will get lots of FUMF performances between now and the second single in the UK!

Ah my post sounded much more negative when I read it back. It's not meant to be negative, it's just my opinion on the impact date :S

I only mean that they're not giving up on FUMF after 1 week

I'm kinda 50/50 with the whole thing.

On one hand, I'm glad Island are not giving up on FUMF. But on the other, the half-arsed promo, awful radio tour and so on, I'm kinda thinking "It seems like they gave up on it before it started".

I do think that the best thing to do now would be to let the pre-recorded performances of FUMF take their effect, hopefully bumping it up a few places on iTunes, then finding out if Radio 1 think the second single is something they would playlist, before deciding on it. Then launching the second single.

I think this whole thing confirms, for me anyway, is that FUMF was the perfect album launcher, but not the perfect lead single. If she came back with IGY or ALS and got Radio 1 and/or Capital on board, they would've played FUMF (maybe not A-list but more than they have done) and then FUMF could've really taken off and given the impression of the album. Like something Ella did, Radio 1 and Capital clearly preferred Ghost, but still played Glow anyway. Except, with Leona, FUMF would've connected with people much more than Glow did and could've easily been top 5.

Before anyone is like "No. FUMF was the perfect lead single". I would say, it's the perfect album lead, but not the era lead single. Not in any way saying it's a terrible single or anything!

It's not unfair but the reality of the music industry and the nature of the press. I guess at least people seem to still be talking about her. It's no bed of Roses even for the biggest stars. best not to read this stuff or care about it if it upsets you.

I'm starting to panic and worry for the album thinking they will delay it or worse it won't get released, Leona is such a lovely person, it's so unfair, I hate the radio stations for not playing her.
