I know there are a few tours which have grossed more, such as the U2 360 degrees tour, even Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour but I think Michael Jackson's Bad and Madonna's Blonde Ambition tour is so iconic and produced so many memorable images and moments.

What are your opinions?

Not if you don't like Madge or Jacko. Seen many many tours that I would have found iconic. Even going back to U2s War tour with Bono standing on high stacks of speakers with a flag. Just 1 example.

look up the word iconic for a start, then look at the highest grossing gigs, then put 2 and 2 together

I would say Pink Flody's tour The Wall was the most iconic tour of all time.

I do think the tours the OP mentioned were very special in their own right though. Would give anything to be able to travel back in time and be in the audience for Blonde Ambition!

Best concert I've ever attended.
Ironically, the worst was 'The Girlie Show'. Didn't enjoy it all all. IIRC a lot of people felt the same. The venue was getting emptier every time I looked round.

Look up the most successful recording artists of all time. Put 2 and 2 together and see Michael Jackson and Madonna are very much the two most iconic music acts of our times, only Elvis and the Beatles are held in higher/equal regard.

Come back when you can find two more iconic artists.

Oh wait you can't.

Just coz a gig has the highest grossing tour don't make it more "iconic" than another one that takes less

Britney spears is as iconic as the pair of them, Id go as far as saying that she's on par with them, nothing no one can say can disregard her iconic status in the music world, no one said they wasn't iconic so what's your problem, the discussion was the 2 tours being iconic which not everyone agrees with, think before you answer next time

I think Madonna's Blond Ambition tour was a trail blazer and was light years ahead of it's contemporaries. Everything about that tour has been replicated in one guise or another since and continues to be to this day.

I love Madonna but whether you're a fan or not it's only fair and reasonable to give credit where it's due.

Jeez..Is it still half term round her.

I saw both Michael Jackson & Madonna on these tours, and really not sure how you've created this myth within your own head OP, but only obssesive fans of either would call them 'iconic' tours.

I personally found the two shows to be just 'ok'..a lot of style, no substance though, too many songs were mimed and there were better performers and better arena shows around at the time.

Well done Andrew, it is actually Blond Ambition, not Blonde Ambition.

Whether you think a show or tour is Iconic is personal taste, however, one thing I cannot agree with this that Miss Spears can be held in the same league as either Michael Jackson or Madonna.

I think Madonna's 'Conical Bra' that she wore during Blond Ambition is more iconic than the tour TBH.

Oh no I'm not an obsessive fan, I also have never attended both of the tours mentioned as I was very young. I have subsequently seen Madonna on the Confessions Tour.

No I am pop culture fan and I don't think you have to be an obsessive fan of either artist to regard their most famous tours as iconic.

Oh no I stated quite clearly that Madonna and Michael Jackson are equal or just below Elvis and the Beatles.

These 4 acts are far away the most iconic acts and you could argue for all four of them to be in any order.

Plus Elvis nor the Beatles haven't had any really iconic worldwide concert tours.

Really but in reality it's the truth that's a fact, you can't knock her. Dislike her all you like but no one can argue she has not got the iconic status down to an art

Rolling Stone pretty much said this. It changed the way pop music tours were produced. Madonna's thinking was that rather that just attending a music concert she wanted to make it look and feel like you were watching the theatre as well. Hence all the different segments it had. Plus this one performance almost got her deported from Italy! lol

In fact I'm also sure Rolling Stone listed it as one of the overall top tours of the 90s as well.

It always amazes me they never released it on DVD. In Ben With Madonna doesn't quite make up for it.

Bet she nicked that idea from the Pet Shop Boys.

Doesn't matter who the idea came from. The fact is Madonna is the one who changed the game with it.
