No, they voted for an act. Or are you suggesting that those who voted for the magician were scammed because he doesn't actually have real magical powers...?

I'm "cool" that the vast majority of people aren't daft enough to think they were "conned".

Ah the old "Only sensible people see it my way and therefore everyone who doesn't is wrong and daft" childish debating technique.

She hid the bloody dog DELIBERATELY! That clearly shows what she was up to. That's called evidence, whilst you have nothing but the fact you obsessionally like the act to the point of defending the defenceless

Here we go again, you constantly bringing this thread back up for the hundredth damn time!

Instead of moaning about the same bloody thing over and over again, why don't you rant about something more serious like ISIS, the shootings in Tunisia, or the faulty rides at Alton Towers!

Just park it, it's already been a whole MONTH and you still haven't gotten over it by now, seriously something's wrong with you, you seem so obsessed with this thread!

I think he must have run into this dog in real life and it peed on his shoes.

Or wait, it's Jules he hates. Maybe SHE peed on his shoes.

How strange. In this thread you are foaming at the mouth over this and yet you are happy in the TG threads to support and defend a man who had his contract terminated for punching and abusing a colleague.

Surely the defenceless are the ones who need defending the most?

Yes, of course. This is one of the most important things that has ever happened.

A few daft people were incensed by a dog act. We cannot rest until this injustice is righted!

And let us not forget that a few daft people were incensed by a lemon. We need justice for them, too.

Yes, I noticed that. He's just generally quite foamy, isn't he, but with no particular rationality to his foaminess?

Poor Ofcom. All they have now to focus on is THAT DAMN DOG and his evil owner!!!

Ofcom in the news, doing their usual "important" tasks:

"Ofcom has launched an investigation into the use of strobe-lighting during the final of The Voice UK."

No Ofcom action over Dermot O'Leary's Comic Relief swearing

And one where they SHOULD have acted, but Ofcom seems to let Big Brother get away with everything.

Former winner Helen told Brian he looked like a "murderer" and a "rapist" on the show, sparking a flood of complaints

Whilst all of those are complaints, not one of them is defrauding the public.

Committee to quiz Ofcom chief on priorities

Quote:
“The Culture, Media and Sport Committee of the UK’s House of Commons is to hold its first evidence session with the newly-appointed Chief Executive of Ofcom to consider her priorities for the communications regulator.”

No surprise that BGT was found to have misled viewers.

Absolutely no question in my mind. We'll have to wait and see what sanctions Ofcom impose. Probably just a fine and a slap on the wrist.

I'm glad about this. Ofcom seem to let broadcasters get away with everything nowadays.

Whether you agree or not, a lot of people felt misled, so this is the right decision.

Ofcom have still let them get away with it, in the sense that they accepted there was "no intention" to mislead.

In my opinion, the deception was very calculated and deliberate. The aim was to make the "talent" appear better than it really was.

I'm not saying Thames' motives were anything other than putting on a good show, but clearly a series of decisions were made to flatter the winning act, imo.

I thought there aren't going to be any sanctions as ITV had 'no intention to mislead'.

Some will be so disappointed - you get the impression that they were looking for jail time. The "no intention to mislead" will infuriate them no end.

ITV breached the Ofcom code, so there will have to be some sort of reparation. I see ITV are already offering to refund viewer votes.

But I don't know if there will be some kind of fine as a follow-on from this.

Not really, the code gets breeched all the time most with a "don't do it again", fines are much rarer. The key question in respect of sanctions is:

Quote:
“The imposition of a sanction against a broadcaster is a serious matter. Ofcom may, following due process, impose a sanction if it considers that a broadcaster has seriously, deliberately, repeatedly or recklessly breached a relevant requirement”

Sanctions can be found here

Breeches (within the broadcast bulletins) here

I feel sorry for the second placed act as they were conned out of a possible win.

This has tarnished the show now and her act. The whole thing will now be seen as it officially is: The viewers were misled. Opinion doesn't matter.
