London - Breakfast and Pub food recommendations
In a few months time I'm off to London for a couple of nights. On the first night we intend to eat in a nice restaurant with a Michelin star but are after recommendations for the other night and for breakfast and lunch. I normally use TripAdvisor to get a good idea but due to the sheer amount of places it's a bit of a bombardment.
Can anyone recommend anywhere good for a cooked breakfast? I'm after something that's properly home cooked, good quality sausages and meat, ideally homemade hash browns, that kind of thing (so no cheap chain places please). I'm after good gastropubs/restaurants for lunch and dinner too, we're splashing out on the first night so nothing mega expensive but somewhere decent, I don't mind spending around £50 for three courses and drinks (for one person). Cheers. |

Any particular area of London you're going to be in?

There are some nice flat roofed pubs in some of the more residential areas. A great place for a drink and a chance to chat with some of the more down to earth people maybe have a game of pool.

The Wolsey always appears in top ten breakfast in London lists. Never been but aim to!

Well you could try 10 Greek Street. Lunch is probably the easiest meal to have here as you can book which makes life easier if there are a few you. Actually it tends to get pretty overwhelmed in the evening, as it's walk-in only.
Less idea re breakfast but you could have a browse of this recent Timeout effort. (There's a nifty looking multi-coloured omelete on top of that Times of India, unless it's someones sock) .

The English Restaurant in Spitalfields will tick all the boxes. Directly opposite the market, where you can while away whatever remains of the morning afterwards. Perfectly cooked full English breakfast £9.20.

If you like Turkish food then there is a fantastic selection of really decent restaurants in Green Lanes Haringey, the stretch between Manor House & Wood Green Tube Stations.
