Having not owned a Xbox 360 but I own a Xbox One it is welcome news that games with gold is now offering xbox 360 games to be played on the Xbox One. While I understand that backwards compatability is not rolled out till November, am I correct in thinking I can download the 360 games now ready to play in November?
Are you able to download the games now ready for November?
When you buy stuff on the Xbox Store (formerly Xbox Live Marketplace) for Xbox 360 it's tied to your Xbox Live account.

The backwards compatibility feature on the Xbox One will allow you to download any of the compatible games that are tied to your Xbox Live account for free.

So if you start adding the Games with Gold games to your account now (using the Xbox website http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB) then you'll be able to download and play them on the Xbox One when/if they become compatible with the Xbox One.

If you add any games that aren't compatible, then you just won't be able to play them!

EA are thinking about putting there backwards compatible games in the EA access vault.

this would make them only available to those with EA access membership. so much for not making you pay for games you already own
Excellent news. EA Access is looking increasingly like amazing value.

So are the Xbox 360 games with gold now all backwards compatible from the announcement, August?

I can't find Metro 2033 (free game this month) for the Xbox 360 on the Xbox app but have on the website. It says it's free with gold or £11.99 with an option to download to the Xbox 360, but I don't have a xbox 360?

I've now purchased Metro 2033 for free. So I believe come November I'll be able to access it from my Xbox One some how?

it might not be because its from september onwards that all of them be be backwards compatible. a few of previous games with gold will be like gears of war judgement.

they just come up on the instal section of your games

Where has September come from? They said all future games with gold will be backwards compatible. They said that at the beginning of this month.

- Backward Compatibility launches in *November*, not September.

- *All *future* Xbox 360 Games with Gold will be playable on Xbox One once Backward Compatibility launches in November.

Gears 3 and Gears Judgement are a safe bet.

I heard Gears 1 is already supported. (?) Don't know if that includes PAL discs. Haven't had chance to check with my copy yet.

Gears of War ultimate edition includes the GOW 360 games so I think it's a safe bet if you already own them they should work without requiring GOW Ultimate.

Yeah. Got 1 & 2 on disc and 3 & Judgement through GWG (I think) so I should have access to the whole collection on Xbox One by the time Ultimate comes out. (assuming of course they are going to sort out the silly bloody block on certain PAL discs)

You should be able to use that option even if you don't have an Xbox 360.

The game will be added to your account, but obviously you can't download it yet.

*Future* Games with Gold, once BC launches.

From Xbox Wire:

We’re also happy to announce our plan to make all future Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles playable on Xbox One starting when backward compatibility launches in November. This will mean that all Xbox Live Gold members get even more free games to play each month.

I take that to mean that 360 GwG added *from November* will work on Xbox One.

Agreed.

However, that doesn't preclude games given away before then being playable if/when they are added to the list, so it's still worth adding them to your account just in case.

Cheers, was so hard to find a definite answer as most media outlets were just say all future games.

Cheers. Another question. I'm guessing the Xbox One is like the PS4 in regards to deleting games from the hard drive which you can download back to the Xbox One again whenever you want?

Yes, With disc games just put the disc back in and with the downloaded games if you go to "MY GAMES & APPS" then go to the far right hand side of the list you can see your games available to install. If you prefer not to delete games just add a external HDD and carry on installing them.

Activision aren't currently supporting B/C so there may be a wait before any of the COD games come along. (If ever)

EA and Sega are on board though, so there's hope for Tiger Woods and Crazy Taxi.
