I will wait for the list to be announced tomorrow. Here is a tweet by Xbox's Mike Yabarra made a few hours ago on this subject

We have not released any BC list yet.

Surprised at Prototype, seeing as they have just had remasters.
Since I never had a 360 I am looking forward to trying some of the exclusives from last gen. Fable and Alan Wake always looked good to me.
Would I need to have played the first game tounderstand Fable 2?
Folk in your position are quite fortunate, you've got a free xbox 360 and a free games collection (gold dependent) to come! Lucky b*****d !! lol

Would I need to have played the first game to understand Fable 2?
Nope.

Good stuff and yeah, the bc was a real selling point for me. Looking forward to exploring the 360 catalogue.
Picked up fable 2 for a couple of quid on amazon.

Not the greatest list to start with.

monkey island 1+2
rainbow 6 vegas
torchlight

There might be more for me, but no halo wars, booooo.

FFS wake me up when the second wave is announced. No interest in any of those.

December sounds more promising;

Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December. More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3. Stay tuned because this just the beginning of a long list of Xbox 360 games that will run on Xbox One.

I wouldn't be sure they'll do it with all the Halos. They only seem to mention Halo:Reach and Halo Wars.
I guess this is because you can play Halo's 1-4 and ODST on Xbox One using the MCC game?

Hopefully this is just the start. Hopefully one day almost every game will be available. I won't give up my 360 if the majority of the games aren't made available.

It 'is' just the start but I doubt almost every 360 game will ever be available.

Yes, the same happened with the 360's backwards compatibility of original Xbox games. There were quite a few that were never converted.

No Mass Effect 2 and 3?

Guess my 360 will be staying hooked up, then.

Are there any multi-disc games on that list? I know there was some speculation that multi-disc games were problematic, which may explain the absence of ME2/3 from that list.

I don't think it is anything to do with multi disc games because the way it works is that if you insert an Xbox 360 game disc that is on the backwards compatibility list it will then go to Xbox live and download the game, but you still need the disc in the console to play.

Apart from the original Kinect games all 360 games can work subject to developer/distributor approval.

Finally a tip
If you press the View & Menu buttons on the Xbox One controller when playing a BC game it will bring up the 360 mini guide.

I didn't think it was speculation, I thought it had been admitted to that they're having problems with multi-disc titles. From EG: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...games-revealed

"Mass Effect 2 and 3 are also not listed, but Microsoft is known to be having an issue getting multi-disc games working."

Looking forward to Fable 2 and I think I am getting the Gears games for free thanks to getting the remaster. So pretty good for me.

Are there any recommendations from the exclusives on the list for someone who didn't have a 360?

They only did about half of the Xbox games when they did the 360 backwards compatibility.

Didn't that require more game-specific work, though, whereas this is more a case of "Get the publisher to agree and that's that"?

I really hope they manage to get it sorted, I'd be gutted if ME doesn't make it, it's literally the only reason I still have a 360

I agree with what you say - however, it's not the beginning as the backwards compatibility was first announced months ago in the summer. I hope the rate of progress for adding major games (Ie not arcade ones) increases - I don't think any of the many games I bought are on the list! Fingers crossed for decent current day shooters ie COD
